Sales Tax Liability Report

I just migrated from Quickbooks Desktop to online. When I do a sales tax liability report it always says Non-Taxable sales is 0. For example, last month QuickBooks desktop reports non-taxable sales of 10,750. I do a lot of out of state sales. However the same report in Quickbooks online says 0 for non-taxable. However the Gross and Tax Amount are correct. I can't figure out what is going on, any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Sales Tax Liability Report

Hi there, @rsmith4321,

I'd be glad to help you out! You can customize the date and filter of your Sales Tax Liability Report to show the non-taxable amount. Please make sure that no sales tax is applied to your transactions.

To customize, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Reports tab.
  2. Search for Sales Tax Liability Report.
  3. Select Customize option.
  4. Select the date and filter of your choice. 
  5. Run report.

 

If the outcome is the same, use a different browser or follow these steps:
 

  1. Clear your browser's cache.
  2. Clear Intuit-specific cookies from your browser.

Sales Tax Liability Report

I tried Safari as well. It doesn't seem to be a browser issue, it's something wrong with the way the report is working. I don't know if you understood my question. I will attach a screenshot of side by side of the difference between what I get reported in Quickbooks Desktop and Quickbooks Online. Perhaps it's something to do with the way I selected that invoices were non-taxable that is causing an issue, I always used the % button at the bottom of an invoice to select if a customer is taxable. Thanks for the help!

Sales Tax Liability Report

Hello there, @rsmith4321. I'm here to provide details about how reports are moved from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

Once the migration is finished and you're reviewing the reports in your QBO account. You may see differences from the data shown in QBDT. For instance, the accrual basis reports in QBO will match those in QBDT. While cash basis reports may not match. Also, the two programs don't have the same reports.

 

In terms of taxes, the sales tax won't be copied for all transactions and some will be transferred as journal entries. For reference, feel free to open this article: Learn how features and data move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.

Sales Tax Liability Report

Does anyone have an idea about fixing this specific issue? I can't imagine why sales tax liability wouldn't transfer it's kind of an essential feature. I can't run my business without knowing the sales taxable and non-taxable sales. I will just have to go back to the desktop version or find another service unless I can solve this issue.  Thanks!
