Join nowI have been paying sales tax from the "Sales Tax Liability" window, rather than the "Pay Sales Tax" window. How do I delete the inaccurate balance displayed on the "Pay Sales Tax" window?
Thanks for your help.
Great to have you in the Community space, @2161.
Paying sales tax in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac should be done through the Pay Sales Tax window. Since you've paid it through the Sales Tax Liability window, I recommend adjusting your sales tax amount to correct it. I'll show you how.
You can also check page 206 in this article for more details and learn some tips in managing your QBDT for Mac: QuickBooks Desktop Mac 2021 User’s Guide.
Moving forward, you'll want to pay your sales tax through the Pay Sales Tax window to steer away from any confusion. Furthermore, I recommend working with your accountant for other ways in handling this situation. This way, we can ensure your accounts are well accounted for.
I'll be around whenever you have other questions or concerns with your sales tax or QBDT. Just add them in your reply, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Keep safe and enjoy the weekend!
Thank you JasroV.
One more question.....The total due on the Pay Sales Tax Window is a large number covering hundreds of sales over several years. What adjustment account should be used in this case?
