We have an online store through Shopify that sells product. We set Shopify up to automatically export transactions to QuickBooks Online every night. We also have our business checking account set up in QBO. The trouble is, all the Shopify transactions (mostly sales) that are exported are essentially being recorded twice in QBO because the bank account shows the sales income (minus fees and charges from Shopify), but the export also shows the individual transactions that added up to those sales.
We would like to continue the exports, but is there somewhere, such as an account or category, they can be sent that will not affect the balances in QB? Or is it best to cancel the Shopify exports and find the individual sales info in Shopify if needed?
Hi Mommacrimin,
You'll want to make sure that you've only imported sales transactions made from your Shopify to your checking account. However, if those transactions are still being recorded twice, I suggest reaching out to Shopify Support Team. They'll be able to check your software's configuration so it will only import one transaction at a time.
Here's how:
1. In your QBO account, click the Apps menu on the left panel.
2. Under the My Apps column, choose Shopify.
3. Click the Support tab to get their phone number.
You can run and customize reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Please let me know if you have any other concerns. I'll be right here to help.
