Some of my expenses are showing up as a positive number and some as a negative number, how do I get them to all be negative?

Welcome to the Community space, Kate. I'll provide insights on how QuickBooks Online (QBO) handles expense transactions.

Before anything else, could you share what you're trying to accomplish before going through these expenses showing as negative numbers? Any additional info would let us provide the appropriate solution to your concern.

Moreover, it's important to note that if you use an expense in your financial records, the corresponding amount will negative value in your checking account. It is because an expense represents a withdrawal of funds from your account.

Negative values in your checking account indicate that you have spent more than you have deposited, which is an important aspect to keep track of to maintain a healthy financial balance.

However, if these expenses that have negative numbers are from your downloaded bank transactions, I suggest, excluding them from your for review tab and manually entering them into your account.

For future help, please refer to this article on how to run a report that will reflect all payments made to vendors: Run a report with vendor totals.
