Buy nowI have been trying to let QuickBooks know, for one year by calling multiple times, that there is a constant issue with the Taxable Amounts. Sales by Customer Detail reports show Non-taxable sales in the Taxable sales amount column. Only by clicking on all wrong categorized amounts and reaffirming Automated based on location (which means clicking on it and saving it one by one), does the amount goes out of that column. All my retailers are tax exempt because of resale and are correctly put into the QuickBooks customer setting. Still QuickBooks adds all these amount in Taxable Amount column. If someone could help me get this issue fixed that would be more than awesome. So tedious.
We appreciate you letting us know about the problem you're experiencing with taxable amounts in your reports, ACromphout.
We can see how time consuming it is to handle any incorrect sales tax categorizations, especially when it involves manual corrections. Allow me to share a resource to help you get going.
In this case, I recommend reviewing this article: Learn how QuickBooks Online calculates sales tax. It provides insights into how QuickBooks determines taxable and non-taxable amounts, which could supply clarifications regarding your situation.
However, if you continue to run into issues with sales tax not reflecting correctly, I suggest contacting our Customer Support Team again. They have the tools needed to look into your specific situation and assist you in resolving this matter.
You may also let QuickBooks automatically estimate your potential sales taxes. Doing so can help you review and prepare for your upcoming sales tax totals.

I ended up using reports out of our POS system for tax purposes because I just don't trust the QuickBooks numbers. And I am not the only one. This is a software problem that needs to looked at immediately. I have already spend too much time on this with resolve and with support being dismissive. Not happy with support at all.
I have be trying to tell them myself, it's really messing up my sales tax to the state. Did they say anything to you because I can't get a word from them. as well as their invoice's are horrable.
I am having this issue as well and it's messing up my sales tax to the state. Your reply to the person above makes no since if you don't fix the issue. Telling a person if it continues to let customer service know BUT if you don't fix this issue then it will continue, as well as I do let QBO auto the figures and it's all wrong, in other words please fix your issue.
Thanks for joining this thread, rock and roll.
If your taxable amounts are looking incorrect in QuickBooks, and you're unsure why, I'd recommend working with a tax professional to identify what's causing the wrong amounts. If you're in need of one, there's an awesome tool on our website called Find a ProAdvisor. All ProAdvisors listed there are QuickBooks-certified and able to provide helpful insights for driving your business's success.
In regard to your preference for a different invoicing system, I can certainly understand how this could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.
