The close and save button doesn't close the window anymore

Let's start by accessing your QuickBooks account using private browser or an incognito browser. You can use either keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

Once logged in, you can try  accessing the transactions you're working and click the Save and Close button. If it works, you'd want to clear the cache of your regular browser to start on a clean slate. This process helps the browser to fetch the latest version of the webpage and a faster browsing experience. Also, you can use a supported, up-to-date browser to roll out the possibility of a browser-related issue.

This isn't the kind of experience we want you to have when utilizing the Save and close button while saving your transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @tstruminger. That's why I'm here to guide you on the actions you need to take care of the issue.

 

When the troubleshooting steps provided above didn't work, there's a need to further investigate the reason the Save and close button won't close a window in your QBO account. Since we're unable to pull up your account here in the Community for security reasons, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care team. They can securely verify your account, determine the cause of the issue, and guide you with a fix.

 

In case you want to talk to one of our representatives to replay this matter, you'll need to request a callback. You'll first have to check out our support hours to ensure we can assist you on time. Here's how if you choose the Search tab:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Select the Search tab.
  3. Choose Contact Us
  4. Enter your specific concern in the What can we help you with? field. 
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Select Get a callback. 
  7. Enter your contact details. 
  8. Click Confirm my call.

That hasn't helped and I've not found that your support people aren't any help. The last time I was chatting with them it was for over 30 minutes and they disconnected and never contacted me back.

This is a little late but I had the same problem. What just worked for me was closing the company file. Mac desktop 2021: File, Close Company/Log off. Then open the company file again. Hope this helps other people with the same problem.
