We have an industry standard application that we use to process our work and generate invoices/statements to our clients. It doesn't talk to Quickbooks. We use Quickbooks to track the bank accounts and to manage the AP. However, I would like to start tracking the AR as well so that we get a complete picture of our financials in one place. Our application generates a significant amount of invoices every month (1000's) and so, we don't want to dedicate the manual effort to rekey that specific information into Quickbooks for every invoice. However, we do generate monthly statements. Since that would only be 1 amount/client/month. My thought was to create an invoice in Quickbooks for each client's monthly statement and apply any received payments to that "invoice".
Does this sound like a reasonable approach? Does anyone have any best practices for how to approach this? I can't be the only one with this issue... :)
