Unable to export to Excel

Hello there, @plcrouse.

I'm here to guide you in exporting your reports from QuickBooks to Excel successfully. I recommend following the steps provided by my colleagues and other users above to ensure it works in every scenario. First, let's ensure that your QuickBooks Desktop is updated to the latest release.

To fix the issue, I recommend changing the Windows User Account Control (UAC) Settings. UAC may block QuickBooks actions as a security threat. Changing UAC settings can resolve this. Disabling it will help resolve the error.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Windows Start button and search UAC.
  2. Select the Change User Account Control Settings option and change the settings to Never Notify.
  3. Hit the OK button and restart your Windows.
  4. Then, export a form or report from QuickBooks in Excel format and check if the error is resolved.

Moreover, you can also try exporting the report while not using RightNetworks for QuickBooks to further isolate the issue. It's best to consult an IT expert to ensure everything runs properly.

Furthermore, you can learn how to customize reports in Quickbooks Desktop if you want to personalize your reports before you export them.

If you have additional concerns about exporting reports from QuickBooks Desktop, feel free to leave a reply below. I'm always here to help.

Unable to export to Excel

This is incredibly pathetic and embarrassing on Intuit's behalf.

How has it been years worth of these complaints and not a single compatibility solution has been implemented.

Its insane that you can't open QuickBooks Settings and specify an Excel/Office installation. Absolutely insane. Extremely pathetic and shameful support/development.

We manage IT for numerous clients who have QB. Everytime they update office they also have to completely fresh install QB? Do you know how insanely moronic and time consuming that is?

Please be better this is unbelievable that I found this thread from years ago and there's still the exact same non-solution being offered.

"Oh idk, I guess reinstall." WHAT!?!?

Unable to export to Excel

Thank you, this finally worked for me too, with a slight modification.

Running QB 2020 Desktop Premier, I upgraded to Office 365 from Office 2010. Didn't like it and uninstalled 365, reinstalled 2010. Excel Export would not work no matter what I did. Checked the registry key mentioned here - I didn't find 1.9, but I had 1.7 and 1.8. 1.7 refers to Excel 14.0, which is the version number of Office 2010, so I left it alone. 1.8 referred to Excel 15.0. I deleted that entire 1.8 key. Problem solved.

Unable to export to Excel

Hi, @mwyld

Let me help you reinstall your Microsoft Office and troubleshoot the issue about exporting from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to Excel.

To provide better assistance, can I ask which options on your end are greyed out? It would also help if you could add the current version of your QBDT and Microsoft Office.

In the meantime, refer to this website for the steps to reinstall your Microsoft Office: Download and install or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2021 on a PC or Mac. However, if you still need further assistance, I'd recommend contacting their support team: Microsoft Support

Since each version of QuickBooks Desktop works with specific versions of Microsoft Office, you can consider reinstalling the earlier version of MS Office that worked with your current version of QBDT in the meantime to continue with the exporting process.

After this, let me add this article about exporting MS Excel files from QBDT as a guide: Import or export MS Excel files.

Let us know how the MS Office reinstallation process goes. We'll be here to offer ongoing support. Take care.
