Get 50% OFF QuickBooks for 3 months*
Buy nowI need to print a payroll/wage report for a period prior to migrating to QBO. But everytime I enter dates for payroll reports for any period prior to migrating I just get a blank page. I was not able to migrate at the beginning of the year, so I don't get any data for the period of time prior to the migration. I also need to compare prior years but can't because there isn't anything there either. Is there a way to fix this?
I migrated to QBO about 7 months ago.
Yes, when you convert from QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online does not convert your payroll data. And so, I think you have to start all over and enter YTD adjustments.
If you didn't do that, then I think you're in a bit of a catch-22 because QuickBooks Online won't let you enter adjustments once you've created payroll.
Thank you for the reply. When I converted to QBO I did the adjustments - QBs simply allowed you to enter the 1st quarter as 1 entry instead of by pay period.- What I am really needing to know is how to get the payroll/wage reports to show the data in the report for the time prior to when I converted to QBO. I need to be able to run payroll/wage reports that allow me to compare it by months and also for previous years. But all the dates prior to the migration date show as blank and say there isn't any data available.
Thanks for checking in with us, CAK.
We can follow the suggested recommendation by BigRedConsulting. Also, if you're using QuickBooks Online Payroll Core, Premium, or Elite without accounting (standalone payroll), you may have another QuickBooks company file. We can export your payroll data into QuickBooks Online (QBO) using Intuit Interchange Format (IIF). First, we have to set up your preferences in your payroll account. Here's how:
Once done, you can make changes to your preferences at any time. Then, proceed to the next steps in this article to finish the export process: Export your payroll data into QuickBooks. From there, you can run the payroll summary report. This gives you the total payroll wages, taxes, deductions, and contributions.
If not, you'll want to check for a third-party application that can help you with migrating your payroll data in QBO. Check out this link for a list of QuickBooks-compatible apps: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/app/apps/home/. We can also do it in QBO by following the steps below:
Any questions about integrating the app into your Online account should be directed to the app's third-party provider.
On the other hand, the Enter [current year] prior pay details option is only available when there are no paychecks created yet in QBO. We can find it by going back to Payroll and selecting Finish adding your team. Then, select the employee and scroll down to see the Enter [current year] prior pay details option. Here's an article you can refer to for more details about setting up a prior payroll for QuickBooks Online Payroll.
If that option is unavailable, there's no need to reset your payroll. What we can do is contact our Payroll Support Team. They'll access your account and create an adjustment to record the old payroll transactions before using QBO. To ensure we address your concern, our representatives are available from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays and 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM on Saturdays, PST. See our support hours and types for more details about this one. Here's how:
