We are a non-profit organization using QBO. How can we apply multiple Donors (Customers) to a single Project?

Hi there,

 

We’re currently unable to assign multiple donors to a project. I’m here to share some information about the Project feature and ensure you get around this matter.  

 

I appreciate your idea and understand how the ability to accommodate multiple donors or customers would benefit non-profit users or businesses. However, the Project feature in QBO is intended for one customer only. With this, I’d suggest sending feedback request to our product development team. They will evaluate these and pick some of them to include in future updates. 

 

Here’s how:

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under the Profile column, select Feedback.
  3. Enter your suggestions, then click Next.

You'll want to track your suggestion through this website. You can also visit our blog to keep up with all of our recent events and developments.

 

As a workaround, you can use Classes to represent the project names. From there, assign them to the donations or expenditures. To determine whether you're making or losing money, you can pull up reports like the Income Statement by Class (Profit and Loss by Class) or Purchases by Class.

 

To do so, you’ll need to enable the Class tracking first to see the Class field when recording donations or expenses. Just click on the field and choose Add new to create classes or project names.

You'll want to consider visiting our QuickBooks App Center to find a third-party project management application that best suits your business needs. I’ll show you how:

 

  1. Login to qbo.intuit.com
  2. Select Apps from the sidebar menu.
  3. Go to the Find Apps tab.
  4. Enter a keyword or click Browse category to filter the results.

We are a non-profit organization using QBO. How can we apply multiple Donors (Customers) to a single Project?

Thanks for your response. I appreciate your suggestion to use Classes but that isn't an option. I'm using the Class function to differentiate between funds (programs) in order to satisfy the FASB requirement for Functional Expense Reporting (FASB ASU 2016-14). I would recommend that other non-profits do the same, it's the easiest way to fulfill that requirement.
