Hello, HubWise.

Thanks for visiting the Community.

It should the Simple IRA deductions/contributions calculate successfully since this issue was already closed.

If still not calculating, let's open our QuickBooks account on a different browser or private incognito window. With this. we can confirm if this a browser-related issue.

You can check below for the keyboard shortcuts based on the browser you're using.

Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
Internet Explorer: Ctrl + Shift + P
Safari: Command + Shift + N

If it doesn't work, then it's likely an issue within a specific browser. You can clear your browser's cache to ensure QuickBooks will start in a clean slate. You can use other supported browser which compatible in QuickBooks Online.

Please know that you're always welcome to post if you have any other concerns. Community Team will always here to help.

I tried to run payroll on both Chrome and Microsoft Edge (both regular & private/incognito modes on each) and it still subtracts the other deductions (health/dental insurance) before calculating the Simple IRA employee deduction and employer contribution.

It should just use Gross Pay in the calculation.   This problem is not resolved.

Let me know next steps to solve this.

Thanks,

Hello, @HubWise, Thank you for trying my colleague's troubleshooting steps.

I looked over the information in this thread and I can give you a little more assistance on this issue.

When making the Simple IRA deduction the company contribution then chooses a percentage calculation method, and assign an equal value to both the deduction and the contribution amounts the paycheck will match.

Let's take a look at this article based on Calculating Payroll Deductions.

Please let me know if you have any more questions. I'll be awaiting your response. Until then, speak soon.

This doesn't solve the problem.  The issue is that other deductions are subtracted from Gross Pay before the 3% calculation is made.  This is true on both the employee and employer contribution to the Simple IRA.  For example, we have an employee whose salary is $45,000 annually.  Their semimonthly Simple IRA contribution should be $56.25 for the employee portion and another $56.25 for the Company match contribution.  Instead it is deducting the employee portions of the health and dental premiums and the result was $25.01 for the employee portion and another $25.01 for the Company match.  This seems simple enough as it works fine for employees that have no other deductions other than the Simple IRA.

Please advise, thanks.

We appreciate the additional details that you're sharing with us in this thread, HubWise.

It looks like all of the basic troubleshooting steps has already been given in the previous responses. In this case, we would ask you to contact our Payroll Support Team. They have more tools that can help us double-check how the Simple IRA was set up and determine why you're getting a different amount for this payroll item.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu and click Contact Us.
  2. Inform them that you need help with the calculation of your SIMPLE IRA.
  3. Click Let's talk.
  4. Click Message an agent or Talk to a specialist.
