Hello there, cswenger.

This isn’t the impression I want for you. I’ll help make sure your items are arranged in alphabetical order to ensure you can select one and add it to the invoice right away. Let’s perform some basic troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue.

We can start by logging in to QuickBooks Online (QBO) via incognito mode or private browsing since it doesn’t utilize the existing cache data. Performing this process will help identify if the browser in your computer has a full cache. When this happens, it can cause unusual behavior in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Here are the shortcut keys for each browser:

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + N (Google Chrome).
  • Press Ctrl + Shift + P (Mozilla Firefox).
  • Press Ctrl + Shift + N (Microsoft Edge).
  • Press Command + Shift + N (Safari).

Next, create an invoice and select the items from the Product/Service drop-down. If they’re arranged alphabetically, remove the cache from your regular browser to enhance its overall performance. If this doesn’t work, switch to another browser to check if the issue is the one you’re using.

You can bookmark this article for future reference: Group your products and services into different categories. From there, you’ll learn about classifying products and services. It includes instructions on how to use categories in transactions.

Keep in touch if you still need help with creating invoices and managing items in QBO. I’m always ready to assist further. Have a good one.

Instead of selecting from a drop-down you would have to resort to starting to type in your selection. After about 3 characters you should have a more limited choice or even just the one you want.

You can't just then tab to next field as you can in desktop versions as QBO will think you want to create a new item. It ignorantly works the same even for customer names

you have to be kidding.  Make it alphabetical for crying out loud.   And let us filter the check register easily, silly how this is.   If i want to search for something i need to go through hoops to do it.   Product is a disaster.
