When I reconcile accounts in QB Deluxe 2020 (Desktop), in all accounts but 1, appropriate transactions reflect as (R) reconciled after accepting them. In one account, they are only reflecting as (C) cleared. Why aren't these being reflected as (R)?

Hey there, @bjgorski.

Let me help you reconcile your accounts you can close your books in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

There might be a damage data within your company file that causing your transactions to be tagged as cleared (C) even after reconciling them. Let's run some basic troubleshooting steps so you can get back to business.

First, make sure to update QBDT to its latest release. Doing this will help you in fixing minor issues within your company file.

Once done, try reconciling your account again. If you're still getting the same error, you can proceed to these steps.

Repair your company file using the Rebuild Data tool:

  1. First, run the Verify Data too to find the cause of the issue. Go to the Window menu and select Close all.
  2. Click File and select Utilities
  3. Choose Verify Data. If you see "Your data has lost integrity," indicates there is data damage in the file.
  4. Go to the File menu, then hover over Utilities and select Rebuild Data.verify data.PNG
  5. On the QuickBooks Information window, select OK. Follow the onscreen steps to save a backup.
  6. Let the tool repair your file. It may take some time. QuickBooks may seem stuck, but as long as you can move your mouse, the tool is working.
  7. When the tool finishes, select OK.

If you're still getting the same concern, you can use the QuickBooks File Doctor to fix your company file.

Once the issue is fixed, you can follow this guide when closing your books: How to close your books in QuickBooks Desktop.
