Welcome to the Community, @catalpaenterpris.

I'm here to share some insights about how Price Rules work in QuickBooks Online.

Did you receive any error message while creating Price Rules? There's should be no limit when creating price rules in QuickBooks Online, however, it works better under 10 thousand rules. To verify if the issue has something to do with your browser, you'll need to log into your account through the private browser mode.

Here are the different keyboard shortcuts to open a private browser:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Internet Explorer: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If it works fine, you can go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Please follow the outlined steps in this article depending on the browser you're using: How do I clear my browser cache and temporary Internet files?

Also, you can check out this article for information about Price Rules in QuickBooks Online: Price rules FAQs.

Please let me know how it goes or if you're referring to something else. I'll be around to provide further assistance. Have a nice day.

I am having the same issue. And the response does not actually address the issue at all. The question is why is there a limit of 10 products FOR EACH rule? Can someone please answer this question?

Thank you for joining this thread, and allow me to join in and share how the price rule works, ira1.

I've replicated this on the sample file and each price rule doesn't limit the number of items. It depends on how many products or items are available on a specific type.

I suggest performing some troubleshooting steps to isolate this behavior. Let me show you the steps needed to fix this:

  1. Sign in to your QBO account using a private browser.
  2. If you can create more than 10 items in each price rule, go back to your regular browser and delete browser cache and Intuit-specific cookies.
  3. If the new employee isn't  showing up after using a private browser, I suggest opening QuickBooks using other supported browsers.

You can visit again this page for more details: Set price rules in QuickBooks Online.

If the same issue persists, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. They can create a case to investigate this issue.

Let me know if you need anything else by posting again. I'm always around here in the Community to help you.

The limit of 10 seems to oddly enough apply when using a custom rule selecting individual customer and individual products/services.  This needs to be changed a lot of us have different pricing for products for certain customers and they buy more than 10 products from us.  Once we hit the 10 limit a new price rule has to be created or we would have to use all products all services category to adjust for that customer, in our case we have over 3000 SKU's to filter through to find each product.

Hi there, @Vasilios.

You'll be able to select multiple products in a rule once you select All products and servicesAll servicesAll inventory, and All non-inventory options from the Products and services drop-down. Once you choose to Select individually, the system limits you to 10 products only. As a workaround, you can modify your rule to add all the products and manually input the details to the items needed.

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then select All Lists.
  2. Tap on Price Rules.
  3. Edit your rule from there.

If you're getting an error message about the limit, you may share a screenshot of the issue in this thread. This way, I'll be able to look into your price rule further.

In case you want to submit feedback or request about the price rule feature, you can follow the steps in this link: How do I submit feedback?. Your valuable feedback goes to our Product Development Team to help improve your experience in QBO.

Screen Shot 2021-11-30 at 7.59.13 AM.pngHi Angelyn. thank you for your response.  Here's a screen shot of what I'm talking about.  If I want to apply a rule to a specific customer and to multiple products.  I select individual customer and then products/services individually.  Once I reach 10 products it get maxed out at 10.  If I choose individual customer and "ALL" products and services I have to scroll through 1000's of products and find as it won't even let me search by code to add them.

Thanks for getting back to us, @Vasilios. I'm here to share further insights about setting price rules in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

When you set up a price rule, you'll get to add more than 10 products and services once you choose either the All products and services, All services, All inventory, and All non-inventory option from the Products and services field. You need to scroll through your list and manually set the Adjusted Price. While the error you've received is due to the Select individually option. It limits you to adding up to 10 products and services only.

With this, I'd recommend editing your price rule and selecting either the All products and services, All services, All inventory, and All non-inventory option from the Products and services field. This way, you can add all the items you need to complete your task. Please see the screenshot below for your reference.

In case the issue persists, I encourage you to perform some troubleshooting steps. The price rule error you have may be caused by the browser's overtime collection of data from frequent page visits. To isolate this matter, you can perform some troubleshooting steps.

You can start by pulling up your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private browser (incognito). Here's how:

  • Press Ctrl Shift (Google Chrome)
  • Ctrl Shift (Firefox)
  • Control Option (Safari)

Once signed in, go ahead and create or edit your price rule. If you're able to do so, return to your default browser and clear its cache. This will refresh the system and remove older data that causes viewing and performances issue. However, if this matter continues, I'd recommend using other supported browsers.

Also, to answer the most frequently asked questions about price rules, I'd recommend checking out this article: Learn more about price rules.

Then, to further guide you in managing the growth of your business using QBO, I encourage you to visit this article: QuickBooks Help Articles. It includes topics about account management, banking, and expenses, to name a few. You can select the More Topics button to view other selections and watch video tutorials to learn your way around the product.

Please keep me posted on how it goes in the comments below. If you have other concerns about price rules and managing products and services in QBO, I'll gladly help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @Vasilios.

I am having the same issue.  I want to add 16 Services to my price rules and only see the 16.  I don't want to scroll through all of my Service Items to find the 16!  Why is there a limit of 10 if you select individually?  How do I ask Quickbooks to consider changing this limit of 10?

Thanks,

Kim

Hello Kimos26!

Thanks for joining this post. Let me assist you in setting up price rules.

I understand that you need to select 16 items. Currently, the Select individually option limits us to choose 10 items only. I suggest you send feedback about this to our developers and let them know that you need to add more than 10. Simply go to the Gear icon and select Feedback.

As a workaround, you'll want to create a separate price rule for the remaining 6 items. Check this article for the detailed steps: Set price rules in QuickBooks Online.

Also, I added this link if you need assistance in running, customizing, and saving reports: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.

We're available 24/7. Post again here if you need assistance. Take care!

I love how in this entire thread at no point does anyone bother to explain WHY there is a COMPLETELY arbitrary 10 item limit when selecting products individually.  Just another reason Quickbooks is a garbage, customer-hostile program.  We are moving to Netsuite as quickly as possible, I am beyond done with losing hours of my day every day dealing with the stupid unexplained and apparently pointless limitations QBO imposes on business owners despite literal years of complaints.
