Currently, QuickBooks is unable to show the full estimate amount as subtotal when it's set up to 75% due. The balance due will show 18000.

This is not ok, Quickbooks. The point of progress invoicing is to provide a remaining balance due to our customer. We shouldn't have to print reports for them, it should reflect on their invoices.
This is not the impression we want you to have when using QuickBooks Online (QBO), windylou.
We can turn on the Account Summary feature to show the previous open balances on the latest invoice. This also provides customers with their current total account balance and all payments or credits on their last invoice. Just open the invoice template and turn on this feature.
Let me show you how:
If you need to give customers a complete transaction history, send them a Balance Forward statement. Then, add details for each transaction in the statement. I need to show my customer an updated estimate with the already paid amount but it only shows the estimate, it appears they have not paid anything towards the estimated amount. I am not ready to send the customer an invoice as the work is not yet completed but want to show them the amount to finish with the changes they have added to the project.

The form or option to show the customer an updated estimate with the already paid amount is unavailable since the Estimate in QuickBooks Online is a non-posting entry. You'll have to convert an estimate into an invoice first so you can process payment and show the entry as accepted completely. This way, when you run an Estimate report they will appear with the already paid amount.

This is silly.... Why not have the balance due shown on the estimate?
Meaning you have to create a report to find out how much to invoice after the first one is sent?

You can create statements to show the outstanding balance or invoices that will soon be overdue. There are three types of customer statements that you can use in QuickBooks the Balance Forward, Open Item, and Transaction Statements.

The option to show the updated amount for already paid estimates is currently unavailable. As a workaround stated by my colleague ChristieAnn above, you can consider running the Estimate & Progress Invoicing Summary by Customer report. This way, you can view the total amount of the estimate and its balance due.
I know that this option could help provide an accurate balance due to your customer. For now, I suggest submitting feedback directly to our product engineers. They may look into this suggestion and consider adding the option in the future update. To submit feedback, you can go to the Gear icon and select Feedback.
