YTD P&L for several years

Is there an easy way to show year-to-date income statements for several years side by side -- e.g. Jan-Aug for the last six years -- or do I have to futz around in Excel to create what I want?

Keeping track of the actuals on your YTD amounts in your file is relevant, @Some_guy. I'm here to help ensure accurate report information is reviewed on your YTDs.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Reports menu.
  2. Choose Company & Financial and select Profit & Loss Prev Year Comparison.
  3. Set the date range you want the data to pull up.
  4. Under the Show Columns drop-down, click the Month.

Also, you can use the Profit & Loss YTD Comparison report and then show the columns by Year.

Here's how:

  1. From Reports, choose Company & Financial and Profit and Loss YTD Comparison
  2. Click the Customize Report button.
  3. Under the Display tab, select the date range, and under the Display columns, select Year.
  4. Check the Previous Year and the option you want to display and then Year-To-Date.
  5. Click OK.

On the other hand, you can export your reports to the comparison of your YTDs. To export your reports, click the Excel drop-down from the report's menu. You can check this link to learn more about how to customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

Then, if you have the data, you can export both reports in Excel and manually collate the data.

What @LollyNino_C  seems to be trying to say by not answering your question is, "no, you can't".

Unfortunately, you will have to futz around in Excel to get what you want.
