We took a bit of a break, but we are back with our monthly Community Chatter. Per a recent look at social media useage, as of 2021 there were over 4.48 billion people using some form of social media worldwide. So, for this month we wanted to take a peek at what the team's favorite social media accounts to follow are.
From Morgan:
Hello, friends! I follow a variety of accounts on several different social media platforms. My top fave TikTok account is @nowitsclean. This gal shares every cleaning tip, hack, and tool you could ever want! Her videos are so satisfying to watch and actually motivate me to clean up around the house. My second favorite TikTok account is @calvingrindz. This is purely for entertainment purposes and his prank videos keep me laughing out loud.
Instagram is probably my most favorite social media platform. The list is long so I'll just share my newest favorite accounts. First up is @woven__together. She is a polymer clay artist who makes some of the most beautiful pieces! Lastly is @bigmommakimbo. She went viral for sharing adult lunchable ideas, but all of her cooking and home organization videos are great!
From Kiala:
Social media has been my source of entertainment on rough days the last few years, because there's no better time to get a laugh than during a global pandemic. Anyways, I really got into a show called First We Feast - Hot Ones on YouTube. Many are aware of the premise, since the hot sauce challenge has swept across the US, but while watching famous people eat incredibly hot wings is entertaining, that isn't the best part. The host, Sean Evans is one of the greatest interviewers of all time, and even if you aren't familiar with the celebrity he's talking with, he really looks into their career and asks great questions. You don't even have to be a fan to enjoy it.
On TikTok I love @sadpapi. He was a chef at an upscale restaurant in LA before the pandemic and as we all know, so many restaurants suffered during that time. What did he do? Started making TikTok videos! Even if I never cook any of his meals, it's so satisfying watching someone make a meal from scratch, especially with unique flavors. He always has a ton of videos on culinary knowledge, like when you should use table salt vs sea salt flakes. Or the best way to clean your cast iron pan. Check him out!
From Lisa:
I'm a bit all over the place with my follows, so I randomly chose some of the ones I have interacted with recently. Starting with Instagram, one of my favorite accounts to follow is Robert Gordon Pottery. When I visited Australia my friend took me to their outlet and I fell in love with their style and I keep eagerly hoping that one day they will open a US branch. In the meantime I watch their Insta so I can build my wishlist for when I go visit next.
One of my favorite channels to follow on YouTube lately has been the Safiya & Tyler livestream channel. Every week they livestream a new idea - sometimes it's kitchen gadget tests, sometimes it's attempting to recreate popular soap hacks, and sometimes it's silly things like experimenting with cooking things in Easy Bake ovens. It's always funny and a good palate cleanser when the world gets too intense.
Sheena Melwani became famous on TikTok for being interrupted as she was singing by her father with his funny comments on the lyrics of the song. It's dad jokes galore from both of them, and I can't hear the phrase "close the windows" without laughing myself silly. They have progressed to more every day interactions, but they never fail to bring a smile to my face.
From Sasha:
A year ago, if you were to ask me what is my favorite social media platform, hands down, it would have been Instagram, but now that I have discovered Tik Tok, this takes the cake! I follow many accounts, but my favorite would have to be @menwiththepot. It is so fascinating to see how this person cooks in the woods on coals making everything such as desserts, steaks, chicken, fish, pizza, pasta dishes, bread, all in a pot. The colors of the vegetables, the sounds of the different veggies he chops up, the way the meats are seasoned are so calming and aesthetically pleasing, and in some videos, you can hear the river or birds chirping. Just nature at its best! I would sit and watch these videos for hours and hours and not get bored once. I'm so invested that I am trying to get a knife like what they use, but it has been sold out as soon as they restock, and it takes time because they are all handmade. But hopefully, sometime soon, I will be able to get one!
