Smells like Team Spirit

Happy Wednesday to all! I’m loving the extra daylight we’re getting and sunny skies! The best job anyone can have is one where you enjoy the people you work with and who you work for. As an owner, you can totally foster that team spirit with your employees and create a positive environment where people enjoy being there. I was recently thinking about how important this is especially after 2020 where so much was going on for everyone. So let’s get to some ways to boost morale!

One on One Meetings
Meetings are really important to get everyone on the same page with certain practices or give necessary updates. But they don’t replace you sitting down individually and talking with your people. This is an opportunity for your employee to ask you questions, get feedback, and maybe even express interest in other positions or responsibilities. This can also be a time to just connect and talk about day-to-day things as well.

Appreciation
Food is the way to anyone’s heart but sometimes random acts of kindness really help an employee feel like you care. I know all too well the feeling of walking into work and seeing donuts in the break room. Or when my manager knew I just dealt with a rough customer and told me to take a break. There are a number of ways to show that you care and most of them don’t take too much effort. Valued employees are better employees!

Company Outing
Getting to know your team outside of work is another way to build morale and have fun. You can do a bowling night out, meet up at a park for lunch, or do a group activity like volleyball. These interactions that are just for doing something everyone likes help grow those friendships and create memories. Employees can better support each other when they know them on a deeper level than just a coworker.

OK Community, now it’s your turn to shine. How do you connect with your employees? What easy and quick ways do you give everyone a needed boost after a busy week? We’d love to hear from you!
