The Prospect of Sales Prospecting

"Despite being the first stage of the sales funnel, prospecting is one of the most challenging tasks for sales representatives. Generating prospects is often time-consuming and it certainly isn’t as rewarding as closing a deal, which means it’s not uncommon to postpone this task until it absolutely has to be done. However, with the right strategy and commitment, salespeople can refine their sales skills and learn how to identify promising prospects quickly."

Hi, friends, and happy Friday to each of you! Thanks for joining me for another entry here in the Business Discussion space. As we cruise toward the weekend, I wanted to share a business write-up I read earlier. This article was presented by USChamber.com and covers strategies to start prospecting sales to grow your business, which is always a good thing! Shall we take a look?

Utilize social networking
I've said it before, but here I am to say it again. Social media is your friend and can be a great tool when it comes to generating sales for your business. I believe it's safe to say that people are spending more time on social media than before, due to quarantine and all. With that, you can reach out to potential clients through these platforms. Use your social media accounts to share content that's relevant to both current and prospective consumers. Additionally, starting and engaging in conversations through your company's social accounts is a great way to show there's a human behind the keyboard.

Invest in marketing automation
Marketing automation tools are a great way to help keep track of your interactions. There are so many demographics to be measured to see who is viewing your marketing material and show where any adjustments need to be made. These tools can even tell you someone interacts with your email, or send them a reminder message, and ask if they'd like to set up a call with you or your Sales Team.

Host a webinar
A webinar is the perfect way to generate potential customers. Your webinar may include a "get to know me" segment and a how-to portion of how your product or service works and can benefit your viewers. Not to mention, a webinar is a lot more pocket friendly considering you don't have to rent out space to have a gathering or provide refreshments. The article mentions, "You know the attendees are already interested in your product, after the event you can poll your audience to see if they’d like to learn more about your services. If they say yes, follow up and reach out to them in person. If they don’t, hold on to their information and follow up at a later date."

Dedicate time for prospecting
As mentioned in the opening quote, the aspect of sales prospecting isn't the most rewarding part of business ownership. It is a very important part, none the less. Be sure to allocate the proper time and resources necessary to reaching out to potential prospects, even if your current sales are really strong.

I hope this post has shown a light on sales prospecting, and that the strategies mentioned help you get started. How are you currently generating new sales? Would you add another strategy to the list? I'd love to hear your insight. Have a great weekend ahead!
