Why, hello there Community! You know what? I had one of the best work weeks I’ve had in a long time! You know those weeks where you get things done, you have minimal stress, and you feel accomplished? And it’s all because of a very basic but fundamental skill that I worked into my schedule…… ready?
Time Management.
That’s right. Simple and free and lessening my anxiety. Gone are my college days of procrastinating and cramming things into the last minute. What’s even better is I saw an article from Brittany Bettini from entrepeneur.com that explains 5 Reasons Why You Need to Learn Time Management for your Business.
#1 Accomplish more in less
Until someone invents a time machine that can pause time, we only have a certain number of hours every day. Taking this into account, it’s necessary to organize your time efficiently. Focus on what you need to do, starting with the most important tasks, or you’ll find your day has slipped away and you haven’t finished anything you needed to.
#2 Better Decision Making
When you’re managing your time accurately, you’re clear-headed and can make better decisions. It means any stumbling blocks that come your way, you have time to go over them and decide what needs to be done. The last thing you want is to be handed an additional issue when you have six others still waiting around.
#3 More time for business expansion
Great time management leaves time for learning something new and looking for other opportunities for your business. Take the time to finally deep dive into Excel and look at some metrics, or follow up with some customers/clients.
#4 Relieving stress
This was a game-changer for me. When I have loose plans or ideas of what I need to get done in a day, time slips away and I’m left with a huge checklist. Each day it builds more and more and I'm left feeling like I’m scrambling to get things finished and missing deadlines. Be kind to your brain and plan out your time.
#5 Increasing the quality of work and services
Nothing is done better when it’s rushed. The best work has the time it needs to marinate and form while also giving you the time to edit and make changes. If those two things aren’t happening (and happening over and over) you’re left giving someone a draft and not the final version.
I want you all to think about how you can get your time back under control. If you’re anything like me, time was running me instead of the other way around. Save yourself some sanity and plan things out. I’d love to hear the difference it makes!
