1099 forms - do i need to order paper copies to mail to my vendors?

This is my first year using Desktop Enterprise Nonprofit 23.0.  I plan to e-file 1099s with the IRS, but I want paper copies to mail to my vendors.  Do I need to buy pre-printed 1099 NEC forms or will Quickbooks print them?  Also I guess I have the same question about W-2s. Do I need to buy pre-printed paper forms for my employee copies or will Quickbooks print them?

1099 forms - do i need to order paper copies to mail to my vendors?

I'm here to offer the details you require regarding your 1099 forms, @onlygirlathome.

If you e-file your 1099s into Tax1099, you don't need to buy pre-printed 1099 forms because you can choose how you want to send copies to the vendors by checking the box under USPS Mail or Email Recipient. Note that there's an extra fee if USPS Mail is selected. Please read this reference for detailed information: Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Desktop

You may also select Download Multiple PDFs to provide vendors their copies yourself.

If you want to prepare and submit your 1099s independently, you must have pre-printed 1099 forms for printing. It's advisable to purchase 1099 forms from us to ensure proper alignment and accurate placement of information on each form. Visit this article for guidance: Print your 1099 and 1096 forms.

Additionally, if you need to print W-2s to send paper copies to your employees or for your records, the initial step is to purchase W-2 paper. We suggest ordering W-2 kits (W-2s and envelopes) through us to ensure the correct printing of W-2s. Here's how:

  1. Go to QuickBooks Checks & Supplies
  2. Choose Tax Products.
  3. Select Blank W-2 kits
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to complete your order.

If you invite your employees to use QuickBooks Workforce, they can access and print their own W-2 copies.

Learn how to make corrections to 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC forms after you e-filed them by reading this article: Correct or change 1099s in QuickBooks.
