1099 NEC [printing 3]

I have an older desktop version [2018] and despite updating I still can't print 3 on each page [still wants to print just 2]. Also, noticed that when I select range, it say January 1, 2020. Is there a fix???

Thanks for notifying us of your concern, @AnneM4. Let me share information about printing 3-on-a-page 1099-NEC forms in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

 

Currently, preprinted copies or three up 1099-NEC forms are only compatible with QBDT 2020 and later versions, including Mac. That said, I'd recommend upgrading your QBDT to these versions so you can print three-part forms on each page.

 

Once done, here's how to print your 1099-NEC:

 

  1. Update your QBDT file to the latest release. Ensure to select the Reset Update checkbox.
  2. Go to Vendors, click 1099 Forms, and select Print/E-file 1099 Forms. Create your 1099s.
  3. Select Print 1099-NEC in the Choose a filing method window.
  4. Specify the date range for the forms, then select OK.
  5. Select all vendors you wish to print 1099s for.
  6. Select Print 1099.
  7. Double-check your printer settings, and click Print.

The cost to upgrade to a newer version of QBDT (2020) will depend on whether you need one with or without a subscription. 

 

If you want a subscription, please see this page for the price (per year) and help you select the QBDT version that's best for you: Choose QuickBooks Desktop. If you opt to upgrade without a subscription, you'll get a one-time charge for the cost of the program.

1099 NEC [printing 3]

I so appreciate everyone's help on this. However, very disappointing that I have to do a significant upgrade just to print a few 1099's especially since I'm pretty sure I was able to last year. Apparently, by updating, it reverted back to the old form from 2020. As a business person myself, I understand that your business model has changed, but this practice of removing/changing capabilities to force an upgrade is hard on small business owners who supported your company years ago. I will continue to use my 2018 Desktop Premier version and enter/print my 1099s with the forms software.

1099 NEC [printing 3]

I am running 2024 Quickbooks Desktop. I just tried printing my 1099 NEC forms, but they still only want to print two to a page. I was told that version 2020 and up would print three to a page. Any one else having this issue? Need to get these out in the couple of days!

First, we can update QuickBooks to its latest version to ensure you have the newest features and fixes. This resolves common issues and improves performance.
 

Once you've updated QuickBooks, the next step is to secure the latest tax table update in QBDT Payroll. This provides current state taxes and payroll tax forms compliant with federal and state agencies, ensuring your 1099 NEC forms are accurate and meet all regulations.

After updating both QuickBooks and the tax tables, it's important to double-check that your forms are mapped correctly. This step helps avoid errors when printing the forms. Proper form mapping ensures that the information from your QuickBooks accounts is correctly transferred to the appropriate boxes on the 1099 NEC form. 

Here's how: 
 

  1. Go to Vendors menu.
  2. Select Print 1099-NEC form.
