Thanks for keeping us updated on how the troubleshooting went through, wgarcia.
Since you're still unable to view the vendor reports, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. They are equipped with tools that can securely look into your account and investigate the root cause of this issue.
Here's how:
To ensure that you'll be assisted on time, I recommend checking our support hours.
Once you pull up the reports, you can customize them in QuickBooks to filter the details you'd like to see. Then memorize them to easily access in the future.
It's my pleasure to assist you. In case you have additional concerns or questions in managing your vendor transactions, I suggest posting them below.
I was successful in doing at least 1 clients 1099 which is NEC it is a pain if you have to switch for MISC. I have several more to go
THANK YOU MdRobin!!
This is the answer to the problem we are all having. I went everywhere in my 2018 version to re-set the items in my chart of accounts to the new 1099-NEC and couldn't find how.
Your answer was EXACTLY what I needed to do. It worked and I have a report that I can print out first to review/check before printing out the actual 1099s.
So glad someone was able to make this perfect with easy to follow steps.
I can now run the report as I did in the past.
THank you MDRobin-
Someone should definitely move this reply/comment to the front of the group --
This is the only fix that really makes it easy...
I now can see the report and run it as I regularly did in past years.
If your 1099’s don’t run it’s likely because there’s are 2 new 1099 forms. It’s likely that your accounts aren’t mapped correctly Misc & NEC now have their own box 1 so make sure you have your GL accounts mapped correctly. The fix is in preferences on the desktop version not sure about online version
Problem is the mapping of the GL accounts. Go to preferences/ taxes and individually update the Misc and NEC GL account mapping for box 1
It’s a GL mapping issue.
Fixed mine. It’s a GL mapping issue with Box 1 on the 1099. Fix is under preferences/taxes
GL mapping issue. Fix is in preferences / taxes make sure your box 1 accounts are mapped there
It’s a gl mapping issue please stop wasting people’s time with all this other stuff

Hello there, @drviva.
Let me help and guide you with mapping accounts to 1099 - MISC categories in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
It's important to report the total payments in the correct boxes when preparing 1099-MISC forms. To categorize 1099 payments to coordinate with the boxes, please follow these steps:
I've also added these handy articles that you can check about 1099:
Leave a comment below if you have other questions. I'm always here to help. Take care!
Thank you very much, QB is trying to make us pay them for 1099.
No way!!!
INTUIT AND QB SUX!!! Trying to print forms and all I get is you need to backup..which has been done but it then says I cancelled the back up..your software SUX
I'm here to help make sure that you can create a backup copy of your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) company file, @soridian.
To start, let's run the QuickBooks built-in diagnostic and repair tools called to rebuild and verify data utilities. This way you’ll be able to know if there’s a problem with the company file.
Here’s how:
1. Go to File, then select Utilities and Rebuild Data.
2. Choose OK. Follow the prompts to save a backup.
3. Click OK when you see Rebuild has completed.
4. Now, go back to File, then Utilities, and select Verify Data this time.
5. Should the Verify find an issue with your data, you will be prompted to Rebuild Now or View Errors.
Once done, try to create another backup copy of your company file. For your reference, you can check out this article for further guidance: Resolve data damage on your company file.
Also, you can use this article to print forms in QuickBooks. You’ll be guided with the correct process and know what to do if you encounter some issue while printing: Troubleshoot printing problem.
You can always get back to us if you need other help in printing forms. I am always here ready to help.
Thanks everyone. I have it figured out now after much time and research. If QB had not changed the way to process 1099-MISC and I could have done it as I did in previous years I would have had it done in an hour. To everyone who insisted that I need 1099-NEC, I do not. I pay rent on farmland, machinery so do need the 1099-MISC.
edit
preferences

Tax: 1099
Map to 1099-NEC - click on "you can do it here"

It’s a mapping problem
go to preferences
taxes
you should be able to figure it out from there
i am having the exact same problem..... there is no more 1099 wizard anymore... i have done the troubleshooting, gone to preferences, selected tax, then company preferences.... when i hit the map payments to 1099-misc it only gives me the option to omit these payments.... it clearly is a pull down box where it says omit these payments but everytime i hit it nothing happens... this vendor is set up for needing a 1099....i've updated and restarted... and i've spent hours reading through troubleshoothing and help pages
Hello @companyfab, and thank you for reaching out to us about your issue. I completely understand the importance of accessing your 1099 reports and want this figured out as soon as possible.
There were a lot of troubleshooting steps given in the above conversations so if you've tried those and are still not seeing the right options available, I'd recommend reaching out directly to Desktop Support. They will have the right tools to look at your account and get straight to the problem.
Here's the full article on connecting with support: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support.
If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to reply to this post. We're all happy to help in any way that we can!
Have you tried the following:
1. Click VENDORS tab at top of screen
2. Select 1099 Forms
3. Select Print / Efile 1099 Forms (YES, even if you are not ready to print yet) You'll get a message about mapping
4. In the blueish grey box you'll have the option to get started on 1099 NEC and 1099 MISC. Choose whichever and this will take you to where you can map your accounts and click continue, click continue again and now you should be able to map your accounts. I suggest you do this for the 1099 MISC first, then go to 1099 NEC and map.
5. When done mapping, click continue and at the top left of the screen just under where you see the number 1 2 3 4 5 6 with descriptions underneath, you will see in blue writing (just above the blueish grey box where you view included payments or view excluded payment) you will see View detail report, you can click on that. if you hit continue, on the next screen in the same spot, you can run the summary report.
PLEASE make sure you have the latest QB update.
Did you have to backup before it allowed you to remap?
