I appreciate you for reaching out, Savantica. Let me share with you some insights how your contractor gain access to their 1099-NEC.
First of all, if your contractor has already generated a 1099, they should be able to access it easily. It's just like creating a tax file, and once they're done, they can go ahead and e-file their 1099.
Moreover, to give your vendor or contractor access to their 1099-NEC in QuickBooks Online, you need to set up their profile and invite them to add their tax information. Here's how to do it:
- Go to Expenses, select Vendors, and click on New Vendor.
- Fill out the vendor's profile, including their name, address, and Tax ID (EIN or Social Security number).
- Check the Track payments for 1099s checkbox to track the payments you make to this vendor.
- Save the vendor profile.
- Invite the vendor to add their own tax information by clicking on their name in the Vendor list and selecting Invite to add tax info.
- The vendor will receive an email inviting them to fill out and submit their W-9 info.
- Once the vendor submits their W-9, their info and a PDF of the signed W-9 will be added to their profile in your account.
- If you use QuickBooks Online's 1099 e-file service, your vendor will also be able to view and get their 1099-NEC from the same account.
Please note that if you have already filed your 1099s for the year, your vendor may already have online access to their 1099-NEC.
