Printing 1099s

I just printed my 1099 Misc forms using pre printed forms.  The box for the calendar year was not filled in.  What do I do now?  Is it acceptable to hand write the last four digits for the year?  I am electronically filing them so I am not worried about the red Copy A but other users would run into that problem seeing that it is only acceptable to use a certain font.

Thanks,

Lori

Thank you MaryJoyD.  I do not have payroll and 1099s have nothing to do with payroll.  However, I did check to see if I had any updates to install and found that there were updates that had not installed.  Once I installed them and check via print preview, viola!!, tax year appears.  So, thank you MaryJoyD for making that little lightbulb appear in my head to check the status of my Quickbooks updates.

Printing 1099s

It's great to have you here in the Community Space, Lori. Allow me to share information about your 1099 Misc forms with QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Since you're electronically filing your 1099 Misc forms, I'd suggest reprinting your 1099 to ensure the eligibility of the form when filing them with the IRS.

I see how efficient this would be for you and your contractors. That said, you can print them again as long as you use the pre-printed 1099 Misc Forms and email them once everything's good.

Furthermore, you can visit this link to guide you on how to prepare and file your 1099s: Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Desktop. Also, it includes how you can check your filing status and where you can see your submitted forms.

You can always reply again if you require additional assistance with the 1099 forms. The Community is here to help. Stay safe!

Printing 1099s

Thank you for your reply, FateCandylaneT, but that does not address the issue that I raised.  The forms that I print do not have the tax year on them at all.  There is a box for the calendar year but Quickbooks does poluate the field with the last two digits of the year.  This WILL BE A PROBLEM for people who have to file the Copy A by mail to the IRS.
