Batch Editing Tax-Line Mapping for Chart of Accounts on Quickbooks Desktop

Hi,
Is there a way to batch edit the Tax-Line Mapping for each chart of account item on Quickbooks Accountant Desktop either through the application or importing/exporting through Excel? What I've been doing is that I've been going through each account one-by-one and editing the Tax-Line Mapping (see image attached) on the application but if there's a faster way to do it, please let me know.

Batch Editing Tax-Line Mapping for Chart of Accounts on Quickbooks Desktop

Batch editing and importing data are essential tasks that can help you save time, @jeffrey10013. Let me share some information about it.

You can import your Chart of Accounts data in an Excel or CSV file in QuickBooks. However, the option to include the Tax-Line Mapping is currently unavailable as QuickBooks only allows the following information to be mapped through the Import from Excel feature:

  • Account Type
  • Account Number
  • Account Name
  • Description
  • Bank Acct. No./Card No./Note
  • Opening Balance
  • As of (Date)
  • Remind Me to Order Checks When I Print Number
  • Track Reimbursed Expenses
  • Income account for reimb. expenses
  • Is Inactive

Moreover, the batch editing feature is also not accessible within the program. Thus, you'll have to edit each account and select the corresponding tax-line mapping manually.

If you would like to have the feature to import the tax-line mapping with the other data and be able to edit in batch, you may submit your feedback to our Product Development team. They are genuinely interested in hearing your input and highly encourage you to share your suggestions for improving the program.

Here is how you can do it:

  1. Go to the Help menu and select the Send Feedback Online option, then Product Suggestion.
  2. Choose the Product Area and enter a brief discussion of your suggestion on the field provided.
  3. Once done, click the Send Feedback button.

Furthermore, I've got this reference to help you manage your accounts in QBDT: Add, edit, or delete accounts in QuickBooks Desktop.

You can also check this page about customizing reports and adding more details to it: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

Thanks for dropping by @jeffrey10013. If you have any additional QuickBooks-related concerns, feel free to post here again. I'll be more than willing to help you. Take care!
