Can anyone help me figure out how to edit the sales tax amount? I simply put in a 9 in the % column and it saved it as 0.09%. Which is definitely not the same.

Welcome to the Community, @ch486-lions-east.

QuickBooks Online will automatically generate the necessary tax agencies and the sales tax rates. By default, the percentage column would display the desired amount you've entered.

We can try again editing your sales tax amount. Here's how:

  1. Go to Taxes, then select Sales Tax.
  2. Select the Sales Tax Settings.
  3. In the Custom Rates section, find the sales tax you want to edit.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. You can update the name or rate correctly.
  6. Select Continue, then click the Edit.

As this may also be a browser-caused issue, we can perform basic troubleshooting steps to edit your sales tax amount. Let me guide you on the keyboard shortcuts to go to Incognito or Private mode in your browser:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Also, to give additional assistance, I'd appreciate it if you could provide us with a screenshot of your issue.

Umm the link stopped working in two different browser in the last 30 minutes  (approx 17:00 EST)

Intuit strikes again!  I work in a five county area each with their own tax rate.  New York State demands that sales tax be separated by county on sales tax filing.  That being said,  the "edit tax" link has stopped working in both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.  Not liking the "automatic sales tax calculation"  extra keystroke for me to change WHEN IT IS WORKING.

Some of us work 7 days a week so to have support only M-F is ridiculous for the prices they charge.  Yet another "enhancement" gone wrong.  Intuit needs to stop playing with the interface to justify their prices.  I hear you will only have the new format invoices which better not blow up the way they get folded into window envelopes.  Yes some of my customers do business via snail mail.
