Changing sales tax from monthly to yearly starting in July

So my state decided last July to change my sales tax filing from Monthly to Yearly.  Unfortunately I never got any notification and I only know it because it was changed online.  But I changed it in QBO from monthly to yearly and it wants to do the yearly from Jan-Dec.  Not July-June like the state wants it.  So I went into the settings and changed the starting date to July 1 2024 but it still does Jan-Dec.  The start month will not let me change it from Jan to July.  How do I fix this?

I'm talking about sales taxes not payroll taxes.

Changing sales tax from monthly to yearly starting in July

Thanks for coming back, Scott. QuickBooks Online (QBO) currently does not allow adjustments to the Start of Tax Period, which stays defaulted to January, regardless of changes made to the Start Date for your annual filings.

This limitation is tied to specific state regulations regarding tax periods and fiscal years. On the other hand, to ensure that you have the most accurate information regarding any updates about related to your specific state, I recommend reaching out to our live support team. They can provide insights into whether there have been recent changes that haven't yet been applied in QBO.

Follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your QBO company.
  2. Click Help.
  3. Enter a keyword or topic about the situation.
  4. Select Contact Us to connect with an expert for help.

If you have any more questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out.

I have the exact same issue, live agents are useless, I found this googling while on hold with the agents who have no idea what to do. This is frustrating as my state set my sales tax period to start in July and I have no way to control that.
