Filing taxes using Quickbooks

My husband uses Quickbooks for his business. I am also self employed but do not use Quickbooks. Is it possible to import my Schedule C from my self employment to the income taxes he is filing as we file jointly?
Thanks

@G_S2  The answer would depend on which program you are using to track your business.

Filing taxes using Quickbooks

I understand you're looking to import your Schedule C from your self-employment into the joint tax return you're filing with your husband's QuickBooks setup, G_S2. It's essential to ensure both of your Schedule Cs are included in the joint return, and I want to ensure that I provide the right details about this and point you in the right direction.

QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) is designed to help self-employed individuals track their income, expenses, and mileage throughout the year to help prepare forms like Schedule C for tax filings.

Please know it isn't intended for importing or incorporating a spouse's Schedule C. However, your husband should review his tax profile to set it up for filing jointly and inform the software about his specific deductions and estimated taxes. In case this hasn't been done yet, here are the steps to follow:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Tax profile.
  3. Choose the Tax profile tab. Then, click on the Yes radio button from the Filing jointly? column.
  4. Scroll down and fill in information from the Spouse's first name box.
  5. Review other details, and then, hit Save.

Combining your and your husband's Schedule Cs has to be handled separately through your tax filing software to file a joint return. If your husband is subscribed to the Tax Bundle, he can send his Schedule C data to TurboTax. For more assistance on how to incorporate your Schedule C into your husband's, I'd encourage reaching out to TurboTax support: Tax Support: Answers to Tax Questions | TurboTax® US Support.

If you need to get your tax reports after this, let me add this article as a reference: Get quarterly and annual tax info from QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Having your financial information accurately prepared crucial for a smooth tax filing process, and I hope the details I've provided help you achieve just that. If you have any further questions, feel free to click on the Reply button. We're committed to offering ongoing support. Take care!
