I chose NOT to use the new feature and am still using the old way. However, when i go to the Sales Tax Center... it is totally BLANK. My invoices still show the tax that I collect for the transaction. My Sales Tax Liability Report, shows the totals as well, ut the Sales Tax Center.. BLANK BLANK BLANK!!!!!!! I used to just click pay and write a check. Now i had to calculate everything and enter a Bill to make a payment to my tax department. I have also noticed that every PAST payment that i have made to my State Sales Tax Department in my bank registry .... the name isnt showing anymore. thankfully, the entry is still there in the bank register. Please fix the Sales Tax Center as soon as possible.
YES! SAME!
I too am having a problem with sales tax in QBO. When I import sales receipts from connect to square app everything except for TIPS has TAX box selected on the sales receipts. This throws off my nontaxable sales total in the sales tax center. I can manually work around by opening each receipt and unchecking the box then select custom tax rate but I do not want to do this for every transaction.
Please ask the developers to fix this. If the software cannot report tax properly what other errors is it making that I am unaware of?
I am starting to lose confidence in QBO if they have been reporting this problem for years and it still exists. Maybe I should have stayed with the desktop version.
Thanks for getting involved with this thread, ragenegg.
When transactions with sales taxes are imported into QuickBooks with our Connect to Square app, what happens depends on if you have sales tax turned on or off. If it's activated, your sales taxes will be matched. In the event it isn't turned on, it will be compiled into one line item. The sales tax data itself comes directly from what's shown in Square.
Since your sales receipts aren't coming into QuickBooks how you'd prefer them to, I'd recommend checking the Square side of things and confirming that each of your transactions is set up with the correct sales taxes before importing them. If you need assistance, you'll want to check their website for support articles, or get in touch with their support team.
I've also included a detailed resource about working with our Connect to Square app which may come in handy moving forward: Connect your Square account

I spent three hours yesterday with QB and Square support. Everything in Square is setup properly. When I run reports in Square they show properly and tax is computed correct. I asked Square to verify everything and they said connect to square is a QB product not a square product.
When I import to QBO with Connect to Square the sales receipt in QB is created and every line item except for TIPS has the TAX box selected. This offsets my sales tax return in the sales tax center, making the data useless. The tax to be paid is calculated properly but there is a bug somewhere in the app.
I have manually changed all my sales receipts by unchecking the box and changing the tax by location to custom tax rate. With those changes the sales tax return is correct. But I do not want to have to manually change every sales receipt from Square. Your company says that it makes bookkeeping easy and streamlines the data when integrated with apps but it does not. Yes it is nice I do not have to enter all of the sales transactions manually into QBO but I am required to open each sales receipt to make corrections.
QB Support keeps referring me to Square support but the connect to square app says it is supported by Intuit. So I am asking QB support for help.
I just want that green checkmark in the TAX column on my imported sales receipts to go away unless it is a taxable item. What setting is overriding the products & services and COA settings?
Connect to Square app is freeware and offers only limited functionality. Consider having a paid connector for a reliable one.
Yes, same. Why has this not been fixed yet? Sales tax is due tomorrow and it is still blank. Please fix it.

Mine is also showing up blank, no information is loading. They tell me it is a Chrome issue and suggested I clear cookies and cache. I did that, but still does not work. This has been going on for a week now.
Same, yes and please fix and by the way, I hate the new sales tax system that I have to use on new clients in QBO!
This happened to our 30+ client accounts in September. Obviously they are in no hurry to fix it since it was originally reported in August. We reported the issue to Intuit on 09/18/2023 and they said they were "aware of the bug". Bug? Sales Tax is a central part of revenue accounting. Maybe if they stopped pushing out updates and fixed the basic issues, we wouldn't have to pay exorbitant amounts to fund their feckless engineering and software development staff. Intuit - don't bother with your canned answers or suggestions. Even Bob Dole knows this is only useful as a venting forum.
Agreed @add paypal online I first reported this issue back in 2021, so Intuit has known about this for several years, and continues to fail their users by not addressing this very serious issue. I have elevated this issue to our State elected officials, especially those in the Attorney General's office and Department of Revenue as this directly affects the sales tax revenue that states collect. It is obvious at this point, that Intuit is not listening to its users with regards to sales tax calculations, so perhaps they will listen to State elected officials. Other users experiencing these issues are highly encouraged to contact their State elected officials with the goal of putting pressure on Intuit to finally resolve this problem.
I had problems with the sales tax center for July and August. Mine has been working properly since September 1, 2023. Before that time I was using Desktop Pro and had no issues since I did sales tax on my own.
