I was just sent a link from Quickbooks to fix this issue.  The link is not working for me.  It is just spinning.  Now we cannot see are history or record our sales tax easily.  This issue is obviously a Quickbooks issue and you need to resolve it immediately.  I spoke to a tech who had no clue what I was missing in the sales tax center.  And she said I don't need to know what its for I see the error.  Well I think an assistant should at the very least know quickbooks pages and what they are used for.

Here is the link she sent me:

I understand the challenges you've experienced while accessing the link, @sharontfs.

I recognize the importance of a smooth process to access the link and am here to help you achieve that.

Let's access the link using a private browsing window to eliminate any browser-related issues. You can use these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Ctrl + Shift + N for Google Chrome
  • Ctrl + Shift + P for Firefox
  • Control + Option +P if you're using Safari.
  • Ctrl + Shift + P for Microsoft Edge.

If the issue persists, I recommend clearing your cache and using other supported web browsers. Doing so will allow you to refresh the website preferences that may be causing issues when using QuickBooks.

If none of these steps work, I recommend contacting our Customer Care Support team. They've got the experience to ensure that investigations are conducted thoroughly. Additionally, they can refer this to our engineering department if necessary for a more in-depth resolution.

After successfully accessing the link provided, you can check out this article to learn more how sales tax calculation works: How QuickBooks calculates sales tax.

Thank you for response. I have used different browsers, cleared cookies, checked the settings, etc etc etc, and the issue is not resolved. This leads me to believe it is a Quickbooks programming issue. Am I the only user having this issue? What is preventing Quickbooks from resolving this matter?

Intuit get your stuff figured out - this is happening every month and is a huge waste of time.  Again, today nothing showing when I go to remit my tax.  What the heck is going on?  And your support sucks!  11/21/23

I was using the old sales tax center and got the message: "Sorry, an error occurred". Support told me the only work around was to update to new Auto Sales tax center. It never worked and just showed the message: "Give us a few minutes and try again. If it still doesn’t work, call us so we can take a closer look.".  Told it is a "known issue and a ticket is created".    Have the posts above been resolved or is this still the same ongoing issue?

Quickbooks this is urgent please address!

This is not the impression we want you to experience when accessing the Sales Tax Center, BJP2.

I've checked here on my end and found out that there's an ongoing investigation on the customer cannot access Sales Tax Center and encounters an error message "Something's not working. Our engineers are aware of the issue and are in the process of being prioritized/investigated.

In this case, I recommend reaching out to our Technical Support Team. They'll add you to the list of affected users then you'll receive an email notification once we resolve this. You can also provide this investigation number (INV-96284). Here's how to reach them:

Greetings, thank you for sharing your experience. I am sorry this is happening to you as well. No, they error has not been corrected. I use Quickbooks online, so I am not aware of the need for updates in my case. Here is a screenshot of the error that has been going on for several months. I cannot understand why this is taking so long to fix. It seems we should have a discounted Quickbooks rate until the problem is fixed. Don't you think that would be reasonable since the system is not fully operational?

Thanks for your response. When I contacted support they said it was just reported, but you confirmed that this is same issue and has been known for much longer. I am using QB Online as well. I see your screenshot of the error message and likewise that was the first msg that I was getting (in the "Old" sales tax center). Then they sent me a link to the new "Automated Sales tax center" and all I get there is errors. Guess I have to call my accountant to try to figure something out. I agree, at the very least a discounted QB rate would seem reasonable.

Please be assured that our engineers are diligently working to resolve this issue. If you haven't already contacted our phone support, I recommend doing so. If you're already added to the list of affected users our Product Engineer will notify you via email once the issue is resolved.

I've collated articles that will help you take the guesswork out of collecting sales tax. Greetings, we continue to have issues with the Sales Tax Center and sales tax calculations in the Sales by Customer Detail report. This has been ongoing since October 2023. Since then, we have had to resort to other measures to accurately calculate sales tax due and file our monthly taxes correctly. In addition, we now question the accuracy of other significant calculations such as those associated with payroll. We also wonder why Quickbooks would launch these changes and continue with them despite the issues that have been costly to the consumer. Attached is the screenshot of the Sales Tax Center as of today. Regards.

Thank you for sharing your issue. I hear ya! Still having them, too. As previously mentioned, I have been taking extraordinary measures outside of Quickbooks to formulate reports to file monthly taxes since October. It has been a burden.

Wondering why not restore or revert the tax center programming to August when there were no detrimental tax center issues, until you can debug the new? The current tax center state has resulted in significant adverse effects. With a new tax season quickly approaching, a different strategy may need serious consideration.

I've called 3 times now to no avail. They said I need to migrate all of my sales tax payments from both companies to the new UI. What are they talking about?  It's your program, figure it t f out. Ridiculous. I've wasted hours messing with this and still no concrete solution. Please help me so I can record my tax payments

I hear ya! I do not know how to we will record the sales tax payments by our deadline for this tax season. We will need to pay our accountant extra to fill in the blanks. I am dumbfounded by this.

I've been having the same problem as well.  I've reported it and they act like they never heard of it before and then after an hour or so, they finally say "Oh, yeah, we will add you to the existing tickets and update you when there is progress".  From past experiences, I know that'll never happen.  The advice they told me is that the more people who report via the "Feedback" button under the Gear Icon, the more attention it'll get.  So go to the Sales Tax Center and screen shot the page and then report feedback.  Maybe if enough of us do it, they'll actually do something because, despite what person above says ... the engineers are certainly not working on this to resolve it quickly.  It is insulting to even say that.  Do they even test the software before a rollout?

Sorry for your frustrations! Still dealing with it as well and have wasted so much time too. When we started having problems with the old sales tax center, they said to update to the "new center" - and to this day all that shows there is: "Give us a few minutes and try again. If it still doesn’t work, call us so we can take a closer look."

We have to pay sales tax monthly, so are keeping track in a spreadsheet outside of QB (per advice from our accountant, we are saving copies of all invoices as well in case the "fix" creates other issues).  Updating to the "new auto center" made all of our rates inactive so we had to check/update customer addresses then check invoices to be sure it is auto applying the right rates. So far, the Sales Tax Liability Report is accurately matching the spreadsheet data - so at least that seems to be correct for now. After we pay the sales tax, we are manually matching the bank transaction by marking it as a transfer to the sales tax payable account. Not sure if this is the best workaround but hope it gives some insight!

Yeah I'm having to keep track outside of QBO as well.  I'm still laughing at the cookies, cache, browser... that's the go-to for every customer service issue for QBO people - they don't even research it.  I swear the customer service playbook is:  make the customer verify who they are by 12 different methods, if they make it through that ... then make them clear their cache, change browsers and delete cookies... then if they are still with you... then look into the problem.
