Was using the old sales tax center and it started showing "Sorry, an error occurred". Contacted support and was told the only workaround was to update to the new Auto Sales Tax Center. I did this and am now receiving the error message "Give us a few minutes and try again. If it still doesn’t work, call us so we can take a closer look.". Told by support that is a known issue and a ticket is open. However, I am seeing posts here in the community from other a year ago with same issue but no resolutions. I have hundreds of customers that had tax codes already assigned. I need to send invoices now (first of month) but those codes are now showing as inactive. I was told not to make new invoices until this is fixed as my new codes will still be there. This is urgent and I really need to know if this has been ongoing for some time? When can I expect a fix or is there a work around?
Hello there, BJP2.
I understand the urgency to fix the Sales Tax Center functionality issue.
It seems that this post is a duplicate. A response has already been provided by my colleague in another thread. You can review the complete information via this link:

Hi there! Since October 2023, I have needed to take extraordinary measures outside of Quickbooks to formulate accurate reports to file monthly sales taxes. Also, I have been unable to enter the sales tax amounts paid because of a system error. It has been burden.
I postulate the following to the Quickbooks engineers or to whom it may concern:
Why not restore or revert the tax center programming to August when there were no detrimental tax center issues, until you can debug the new? The current tax center state has resulted in significant adverse effects. With a new tax season quickly approaching, a different strategy may need serious consideration.
I have the same problem and this might help you. Per another post, I escalated my support case to the Office of the President.

See the two related threads below. Multiple people are having the same issue.
Thank you for this! Just sent message to Office of President. Hopefully we will all get some answers soon. Also read over the other posts and wish I would have seen where someone said to not update to the Auto tax center before I listened to QB support!
That was my post...this is getting ridiculous already and still no fix even after going to the higher ups. Has your issue gotten fixed yet?
Hi! No, still not fixed. I received a call from OOP the same night that I submitted the form. Received a follow-up call from "specialist" assigned to my case saying she would look into it. Then an email that said:
"As promised, I wanted to follow up with you in regards to the investigation you are affected by. It seems the engineers have been ruling out an update for the customers that have been attached to the investigation, resolving the error. I have attached you to the investigation, informing them that your account is affected as well. They should complete the update by the end of business day tomorrow. Once they update me, I will give you a call so we can see if it is resolved. Thank you."
Just received an email from from QB Care Team that says:
We’re reaching out to you about a recent issue you had with AUTOMATED SALES TAX Customer cannot access Sales Tax Center "Give us a few minutes and try again. I cleared my browser cookies/cache/history and opened a new private window and am still receiving the same error message!!! I sent another email to "specialist" to inform and have not heard back yet. Beyond ridiculous at this point!
same here...still down
Error continues.

Hi there, @BJP2.
I understand that you're still facing issues with the Sales Tax Center. It's not the kind of service we want you to experience, and I'm here to guide you in the right direction for support.
Before anything else, it would be helpful to know if you're using Automated Sales Tax (AST) or still under the old Sales Tax Center version. The investigation for AST has been closed, and the issue has been resolved. However, the investigation for the old Sales Tax Center is still ongoing.
I see that you've already contacted our support team multiple times, and I appreciate your patience. However, I suggest getting in touch with them again. By doing so, you can be added to the list of affected users and receive email notifications about any updates regarding the investigation.
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to reach us:
You can reach them Mondays through Fridays from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM Pacific Time and Saturdays from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
If you're using AST and the issue persists, I recommend reaching out to support using the same steps. They can thoroughly review your account and further investigate your case in a safe and secure environment.
For more information on setting up, editing, and deactivating your sales tax rate, you can check out this article: Set up your sales tax in QuickBooks Online.
If you'd like to gain a detailed understanding of the taxes you owe and why you owe them, you can run a Sales Tax Liability report to view your sales tax information at any time.
Please know that your patience is greatly appreciated as our engineers work diligently to resolve this matter. If you need further assistance or have any questions about taxes in QuickBooks, please don't hesitate to use the Reply button. I'm here to offer a helping hand. Take care.
exactly my point...are they working on it or not? QB needs to get their act together
To quote a famous individual, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” (Matthew 11:15) Jesus is calling for people to pay careful heed. It’s another way of saying, “Listen up! Pay close attention!” Yes, the context here is different, but, it applies, nonetheless. Though there continues to be disappointment and frustration regarding long-term unresolved issues with Quickbooks, thank God the best is yet to come, and is NOT on earth. Heaven awaits for those who love the Lord and commit to following Him.
