Sales Tax Center: Sales Tax Owed amounts not showing, and Record Tax Payment button does not work. It is not the browser, the cookies, or settings.

Not sure if this is the same scenario you are having, but QB Online Sales Tax Center will not show the payment button when I try to record a payment for sales tax collected and paid in the current month.  AFTER the month ends, the Sales Tax Payment button is available.  This is a real problem because I cannot record accelerated sales tax payments. I have to wait until the NEXT month to make the entries.  Example:  Accelerated Sales Tax for January 2024 is DUE on January 23, 2024 and it is impossible to record the payment in QB Online until FEBRUARY.  Thank goodness the actual payment is NOT made by QuickBooks, we handle the payment process ourselves.

Let's make sure to fix this issue so you can continue working with QuickBooks, jtadlock.

Sometimes this happens because of browser-related issues. You'll want to log into your account using a private browser to fix this. Use the shortcut keys below:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P

When using incognito mode, this deletes cookies and browser history leaving your browser clean and easy to access any websites and error-free. Once done, double-check if the button is already working. If it works, then go back to the main browser to clear its cache and delete some outdated files that might be the cause of the error. Otherwise, use a supported, up-to-date browser.

However, if the issue persists, I recommend reaching out to our support team to double-check on this and investigate further. Aside from the available tools they have, they will be able to access your account and find out the root cause of the problem.

On top of that, QuickBooks offers several reports to get the right data you need. Go through this article for more information: Run Reports In QuickBooks Online.

Sales Tax Center: Sales Tax Owed amounts not showing, and Record Tax Payment button does not work. It is not the browser, the cookies, or settings.

Our State sales tax rates for 2024 did not change. I have one county that QBO is saying we owe $30 more than we do. I keep a spreadsheet to keep everyone honest. My accountant tells QBO has been having issues with sales tax figuring. I asked for a call. I received a chat request. I attempted to chat with QBO. It was a waste of time and one of the most frustrating things I ever did since they did not take the time to read. To enter the correction in QBO is too difficult. Change the reasons to QBO messed up.
