Unable to edit sales tax setting since update 8/23/23

Hi there, jennscott62. I'm here to provide you with some troubleshooting steps to determine the cause of why you're unable to edit sales tax.

I want to ensure this is resolved. Could you please share the specific error you encountered when editing the sales tax settings? Any details will help us identify the problem's cause.

Typically, the absence of buttons or options occurs due to an excess of stored historical data. Whenever you visit a website, it saves some information from the web page in its cache and cookies. These files allow the websites you visit most often to load faster. Not to worry, clearing them will do the trick.

First, let's try accessing your account through an incognito window to rule out the possibility of a webpage issue. You can refer to these shortcut keys to open an incognito window in all supported browsers:

  • Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Shift + N

If it works, switch back to your regular browser. Then, clear its cache. This way, you can access QuickBooks with a clean slate. You can also use a different supported one.

I'm always here to help if you have any concerns about QuickBooks. It's my pleasure to assist you. Have a wonderful day!

Thank you for your response.

I was able to access an incognito window (Chrome) and also access our quickbooks account.  I ran into the same issue with not being able to edit our sales tax settings.  I went back to our regular browser and cleared the cache history.  I have reopened our quickbooks account and the same issue existed.  I'm in the "sales tax center" of quickbooks and unable to edit the sales tax settings.

Thanks for checking back with us, @jennscott62.

You'll want to be sure you close your browser after clearing the cache so the changes will take effect. If you don't close and reopen, it's like the cache was never cleared.

However, if you have done this, let's try a different web browser for now. If you continue to have issues, I recommend contacting our Customer Care Team. This way, one of our agents can review your account in a secure environment and investigate this matter further. You can use the link I've included below to connect with our team directly.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with. I'm always around to lend a hand. Take care!

Maybe this is my problem too. Maybe QB has a bug in their system. I'm new here. Trying to send my 1st invoice. I don't charge sales tax because I'm a service business. I can't send the invoice. it says I need to turn off sales tax. I go to the link to do that and it sends me here: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/sales-taxes/turn-manual-sales-tax-qui...

NONE of that is there. I just get a popup window asking me to fill in frequency information. No way for me to turn off sales tax. No sales tax settings. Nothing.

If you just had an update, maybe one of your developers blew it.

I posted my own question on my problem in another thread. I'm just sharing here because maybe they are related and it might help you figure it out. Or maybe they're not related at all.

Maybe you've never tried to use your ai chat, but you can't get anywhere except endless loops. It's really horrible. I will need to call. what number should I use?
