W9

My employer said they sent me a W9 invite, but I'm not receiving them. Is there a way to fill out a W9 without an invite?

W9

Hello, Kh62. Let me share some insight into why you didn't receive the W9 invitation from your employer.

There could be several reasons why you haven't received the W-9 invitation from your employer. Here are a few possibilities:

  • There might be technical difficulties preventing the invitation from reaching your email inbox. Check your spam or junk folder to ensure it hasn't been mistakenly filtered there.
  • Incorrect contact information, your employer might have an outdated or inaccurate email address on file for you. Double-check with your employer to ensure they have your correct contact information.

When filling out the W-9 form without an invitation in QuickBooks, generally, the W-9 form is given by the employer or client who requires your tax information. While you can manually fill out a W-9 form without an invitation, it is best to seek advice from your employer or a tax professional to ensure you are providing the correct information and following the proper procedure.

For additional reference about inviting contractors to enter their tax info securely, please refer to this article: Invite a contractor to add their own 1099 tax details.

Then by the end of the year, your employer will submit your final forms to the IRS. Once this is complete, you will receive an email from us with a link to easily view your 1099s online. Alternatively, you can log into your account and access them through the Documents section to view and print your 1099.

I've added articles about updating W-9, 1099 MISC, and other related topics.

I'll be here if you need additional support in QuickBooks or if you need anything else. I'm always ready to help. Have a great day.
