WA State PFML Rate for 2025 incorrect!

Logged into QBOP to update my new WA State PFML Rate for 2025 this morning.  Went to Settings->Payroll Settings->Washington Tax->Paid Family and Medical Leave.  The good news is it notified me I had to update my 2025 rate before running payroll and the drop down menu allowed me to choose an effective date of 1/1/25.  The bad news is the rates presented in the other drop down menu are still the rates for 2024 (Employee = 71.43%) not the rates for 2025 (Employee = 71.52%).  Also, since it doesn't display the overall premium rate, which also increased to 0.92%, I have no way of knowing if that rate remains the incorrect 2024 rate or the updated 2025 rate.

I've attached my notification letter from the WA ESD office which shows the new 2025 rates.

Intuit, please fix this before I run my first 2025 payroll in a couple days!  This is especially important as WA doesn't allow employers to retroactively withhold from employees due to incorrect rates on prior paydays.

Thanks!

WA State PFML Rate for 2025 incorrect!

Thanks for the reply Morgan.  I had a chat and their research showed the proper rates should be available in 2025 before my payroll run in a couple days.  Hopefully all will be ready.

WA State PFML Rate for 2025 incorrect!

I appreciate you for joining the thread, Young4. I hear you, and I can see how important it is for you to get everything accurate before your first payroll of the year. I want to jump in on this thread and ensure I provide the information you need and point you in the right direction.

The Washington Paid Family and Medical Leave (WA PFML) rates will automatically update in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and will be available starting January 1, 2025, or within the first week of the month.

I understand that you have already checked the Payroll settings for the new rates; however, I encourage going through the steps again to confirm if the rates are currently available. Please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then Payroll settings.
  2. Next to Washington tax, select the pencil icon to view your rates.
  3. In the Paid Family and Medical Leave section, select Edit.
  4. From the dropdown menu, choose the new rate and enter an Effective date.
  5. Select Save, then Done.

For more info, refer to this guide: Set up and manage Washington Paid Family and Medical Leave.

If the rates aren't available by the end of the first week, please contact our Live Payroll Support Team again to create an investigation ticket for resolution.

  1. Go to Help (?). Then, select the Search tab.
  2. In the search box, enter keywords like WA PFML 2025 rates.
  3. Hit Contact Us.
  4. Choose Chat with us or Have us call you.

I'm also adding this guide about processing payroll in QBO for future reference: Create and run your payroll.

As payroll deadlines are approaching, it’s crucial to ensure that the updated rates are accurately reflected in QuickBooks Online (QBO) for your team. I appreciate your proactive approach in seeking a solution, and I hope the information I've provided helps clarify when the updated rates will be available. If you'd like to add further details, or questions, feel free to click on the Reply button. We're committed to offering ongoing support.
