I'm happy to help you re-enable the account numbers in QuickBooks Desktop. 

 

You'll want to go to your Preferences to enable account number feature. Here are the steps: 

 

  1. Click the Edit button, then select Preferences.
  2. Go to the Accounting tab.
  3. Select the Company Preferences tab.
  4. Check the Use account number box.
  5. Click OK

If you need to add an account number to your existing accounts, you'll want to follow these steps: 

 

  1. Go to the List menu, then select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Find the account you want to add an account number to, then right-click on it.
  3. Select Edit Account.
  4. Add the account number in the Number field.
  5. Click OK
