Using multi-user mode can help boost productivity within your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) company, @twinlakesrv. I'd gladly lend a hand in setting this up.

If you have more than one license, you'll have the option to switch to multi-user mode seamlessly. At the same time, the only role that can change this preference is the admin user. Since you've mentioned that you're utilizing QuickBooks Desktop, please be aware that you can only have up to three users working in the same company file. Additionally, If you're unsure how many user licenses you have, check out this article for guidance: Add a user license to your QuickBooks software.

If you have a different license and your QBDT company file is installed on separate devices within the same network, you should consider using a hosting service. This is a reliable way for other users to access your company's data simultaneously.

There are several ways and methods available for configuring workstations and servers within your network. Select the best option that is suitable for your organization.

  • Client-Server network
  • Peer-to-Peer network
  • Remote Hosting Services:
    • Local Terminal Server
    • QuickBooks Desktop with Hosting

For more information about these, you can check out the articles below:

Additionally, you can check out this article to learn more about what features you access when you switch to multi-user mode: Features available and tasks you can perform in single or multi-user mode in QuickBooks Desktop.

Feel free to comment below if you have other questions about setting up a multi-user in QBDT. I'll make sure to help you anytime.
