Let's work together to find and restore the file in their desktop account, shuey79, to ensure seamless access to their financial data.

With QuickBooks Desktop, the usual location for company files is saved from the C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks\Company Files folder. If the specific file location were changed, you can perform a wild card search to locate your company data.

This is an advanced search technique that can be used to maximize your search results in library databases and help you determine which data were copied. To do this:

  1. Enter and open  File Explorer into the search field from the Windows Start menu.
  2. Choose My Computer or This PC from the navigation bar.
  3. Ensure including an asterisk (*) before the extension type to locate all the files from your desktop company.

However, if the file searched isn't visible, I suggest securing a backup file again, then restore.

If the issue persists, you can create a portable version of your file for easier migration.

Moreover, you can scan this guide to help you bring lost data into the restored company file: Restore missing customized templates, logos, and information from a restored backup.
