Hi, Tate. Yes, you can still e-file your federal tax forms using the program. Let me outline the steps for you.

 

In QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced Payroll, printing the forms beforehand for your records or physical mailing will not affect the electronic filing process. To proceed with filling out your forms electronically in the software, follow these detailed steps:

 

  1. Go to Employees, select Payroll Tax Forms and W-2s.
  2. Choose the Process Payroll Forms option and the federal forms you need to file from the list.
  3. Click Create Form and choose its filing period, then select OK
  4. Select Submit Form, then E-file

 

Regarding your second question, you are correct that you still need to provide physical copies to your employees for their personal records and compliance with IRS requirements.
