My office updated to Qb for Mac 2019 last week. The new Qb for Mac 2019 Server app keeps dropping company files. I'm getting the attached error message.
My office is running on new iMac's which are running OSX 10.12.6. The network is a wifi network and it's only one host and one remote computer on the network.
I haven't used the 2019 server yet, but on all other versions of Quickbooks server, I know it was VERY sensitive to the network connection. WIFI is a no-go. Is it possible for you to have a wired connection to see if it works any better?
I haven't used 2019 specifically, but with every other version of Quickbooks, I know that the server is very sensitive to the network connection. WiFi is pretty much not recommended. Is it possible fo you to try a wired connection and see if it's more reliable for you?

Every version of QuickBooks has a corresponding component that needs to be updated for QuickBooks to function in multi-user. To help diagnose and fix these errors, download and run the QuickBooks File Doctor, which analyzes if your computer is properly set up for multi-user mode or not.
Workstations that have hosting multi-user access enabled can inadvertently go into Alternate Hosting mode and take ownership of a company file. When this happens, other users will not be able to open the file. You may want to verify that permissions are set correctly.
If your permissions aren’t set correctly, perform these steps:
Verify if QuickBooks Server is running and if the company file is shared.

QuickBooks Server thinks that another copy of QuickBooks has modified the file. That would occur if the file were open in another copy of QuickBooks. All copies on QB on the network must connect through the server and not open the file themselves - only the server can open the file.
This can also happen if the file is being shared via iCloud, DropBox, Google Drive, etc and some other machine is modifying the file in their local copy.
Do either of those sound like the issue? If not let me know and I can request some log files from you to give to our engineers.
Thanks! Is it possible this has something to do with the server app having a location in the package contents of the Qb app AND a location in the Applications folder? I've deleted the package contents version but still having the same problem. FYI- the files on the server do not get kicked off to the "NOT SHARED" section. Instead, they are completely removed from the server window altogether.

Let's make sure that there's not any disturbance with your network because of an intermittent connection with the service. This can cause multi user server issues within QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

I'd like to believe it's an internet connection issue. However, my office is in NYC with a very strong and reliable connection. I've also been using Qb and the server for at least 3 years without this problem. It only started happening when I switched to the 2019 version last week. Lastly, please also understand that at any given time the host is sharing 8-10 company files. When we "lose" files from the server, it's typically only 1-5 at a time. If it were an internet connection issue, wouldn't we lose them all?

If you're running a Multi-user system, you'll need to make sure all the workstations have the same operating systems, and each QuickBooks file is up to date with the latest release. To check for the most recent version of QuickBooks, you can go to QuickBooks then select Check for QuickBooks Updates.
