Buy nowI'm having the exact same problem. All these verification codes each time, but it doesn't actually download transactions. Frustrating that Intuit isn't working to correct this issue. For now, I just have to manually input transactions.
I had problems connecting QBO to LiveOak too. I spoke with a representative at LiveOak and she informed that in order to connect with QBO your LiveOak username must be 7 characters or less and all lowercase. Also, your password has to be 11 characters or less. I made the changes and I was able to connect. (At least the first time). It would be good for that information to be posted somewhere by LiveOak or Intuit.
Welcome to the Community, @fly19382.
Thanks for joining this thread and sharing a fix for the connection issue of QuickBooks Online (QBO) with LiveOak. I'm sure that this will be a great help for other users that will encounter the same problem.
We're always here ready to lend a hand if you have any other QuickBooks concerns. Please don't hesitate to post again here in the Community. Have a good one and stay safe.
I tried the lower case user name and short password.
The issue is that QB is trying to link to https://www.liveoakbank.com/ but that is not the correct URL because once you get to that URL you must click on Sign in, then select your banking style. The issue is that the URL needs to be https://secure.liveoak.bank/login. QBO needs to link to that URL not the previous one. @support should figure this out.
Hi there. I appreciate you for sharing your concern here.
When you connect your bank to online banking, you don't have to open your bank URL but paste it into the field. Once you click your bank you'll be prompted to log in with your bank credentials to complete the connection. If you're being prompted to enter your Access ID and PIN, then it's possible that your bank requires additional verification. See the screenshot below for your reference.
If you don't have these credentials or haven't set up an Access ID and PIN, click the link from the highlighted message. Then, you'll be prompted to sign in with your bank's username and password.

This still does not work as a solution. I'm having the same issue, talked with your support & technical team, had a ticket open, and there is STILL no resolution. It's been 2 years now since the original post of the issue. There HAS to be something done differently by now.
Welcome to the Community, @vdor. I'm here to share more information about connecting banks to QuickBooks online banking.
I appreciate you following some steps to resolve the issue. I've reviewed the case about this and the investigation is already closed.
Their research has validated that this is a valid issue with login credentials. If you’re still seeing this error, please log in to the bank/card issuer website outside of QuickBooks to ensure your credentials are accurate, and then use those same credentials in QuickBooks to access your account. Our team also recommends using the Show Password option whenever connecting your accounts to ensure the best possible experience.
If the error persists, I recommend contacting our Phone support team again to get an update on your case.
Here's how:

@vdor I have long since moved on from LiveOak because of this very issue. If they can't solve the connectivity problems with QBO for their Business Savings customers, then they don't care enough about my business to keep it. So I took my 6-digit balance and moved it to a new bank that does keep its connections with QBO.
LiveOak just got a new CEO, so maybe this will change in the future. Too late for me, though.
Great point. I'm a new customer with them (6 months or so)...so if it doesn't change soon, I'll be moving on as well.
Where did you end up going? Alexis F. from LiveOak was rude, inconsiderate, and a plain old fashioned jerk telling me it was the username, the password, and I tried and changed both to still have the same results. Tired of having xx,xxx tied up with them when I can't even do proper accounting without a three ring circus.
You can use MT Online or one of the converter tools (e.g csv2qbo @ $60 one time license) as a workaround.
I now use Wealthfront's Cash account, which provides better APY anyway. And it stays connected in QBO like a modern web app.
Happy to have found this thread!
I opened a Live Oak Bank business savings account a month or so ago. I had no problems connecting my account within QBO. I also had a good experience with Live Oak's phone support - got right through to a US-based human and they answered my questions easily (mostly unrelated questions).
The one thing I'm disappointed with so far is that the STATEMENTS from Live Oak Bank aren't showing up. I've only received one since opening the account, but it's very handy for my Chase accounts that my bookkeeper can access them directly through QBO to do reconciliations. The Live Oak agent said that feature should work, but it's not so far. Transactions have been syncing just fine though.
Until recently, whenever the QBO/Live Oak connection was lost I could generate a new Access ID and PIN using a link presented in the following QBO screen (image from Nicole_N):
Unfortunately, today I am presented with a new QBO screen that does not have this link, as illustrated here:
So now I can't generate the Access ID and PIN to reconnect. I've tried searching for what the linked URL might be, but have been unable to find it.
We value your time and effort in providing these screenshots and explaining your concern, cbr20. Your dedication to finding the link for a new Access ID and PIN is clearly evident and much appreciated. The information below ensures you can reconnect your bank account seamlessly.
In QuickBooks Online, the link to generate your Access ID and PIN for Live Oak Bank will be displayed during the linking process of your account. However, websites progressively accumulate data that becomes outdated over time. These cause unexpected behavior, including the missing link on your end.
To get this fixed, you'll want to access your company file using a private window to isolate issues related to corrupted cache files. You can refer to these keyboard shortcuts:
Once it works, access your company using a supported and updated browser. This helps prevent any troubles when navigating the software to maximize your experience.
Moreover, accurately categorizing your income and expenses is crucial for reliable reporting and precise tax computations. Automate this task by creating bank rules that will help organize the transactions automatically.

Thus far the issue does not appear to have anything to do with browser caching (the same problem occurs in a private window session). The "Update now" button in the connection error prompt is the UI path followed:
Upon further investigation, the alternate path of "Edit sign in info" on the account card (presented after clicking the pencil icon on the card) was followed:
And luckily this alternate path does bring up the desired screen with the link to generate the Access ID and PIN:
Again, this is not how the system used to work. The "Update now" button used to present the same screen as the "Edit sign in info" currently does - Apparently there are two, inconsistent code paths.
Thanks for getting back with the Community, cbr20.
I can certainly understand how having a link to generate your unique Access ID and PIN from the Update your connection screen could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.
You can also submit your own feature requests while signed in.
Here's how:
Your feedback's definitely valuable to Intuit. It will be reviewed by our Product Development team and considered in future updates. You can stay up-to-date with the latest news about your product by reviewing Intuit's Product Updates webpage.
In the mean time, when clicking Update now, you can try using your Forgot your sign-in? Let's go find it link. You additionally have the option of using the Edit sign in info button to access a screen that displays your link for generating an Access ID and PIN.
I've also included a couple of detailed resources about connecting bank accounts which may come in handy moving forward:
Please feel welcome to send a reply if there's any questions. Have an awesome Friday!
Good grief...
A. As previously stated, the "Update now" button used to present the same screen as the "Edit sign in info" currently does - Apparently there are two, inconsistent code paths. To be clear, I am reporting what used to work but is now broken and that I was subsequently and luckily able to find a workaround for. Hopefully this info helps others, until the next UI change occur and breaks the workaround (let's hope not). Do with this info what you will. I would not call this a "feature request" but rather a bug report. If I hadn't found the workaround I would be calling into to generate a support case for the inability to reconnect the bank account.
B. The "Forgot your sign-in? Let's go find it" link is for resetting the login on the regular user account for the bank's online user portal and is not the special URL for generating the Access ID and PIN that is required for connecting QuickBooks to Live Oak Bank. If you read the earlier posts in this thread you will see where employee Nicole_N covers the need for this "additional verification" to link QuickBooks to Live Oak Bank. It's unfortunate that this connection is so frequently lost and has to be reestablished, but until recently the necessary link to do was more readily/logically presented (see A).
C. All those "resources" have been previously reviewed and as of a few days ago contained no additional insight that I could find into this specific matter. There was no provision of the link URL to generate the necessary Access ID and PIN.
There are no additional questions.
This fixed my issue, thanks for posting your solution!!
Thank you cbr20! This solved the problem for me.
THANK YOU this literally saved me. No thanks to quickbooks support for yet again blaming the customer or a cache for a problem that is absolutely proven wrong in their UI.
