I see that you're experiencing some challenges accessing your client's QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) file, @ubmtax. I'll gladly lend a hand in resolving this issue.
The error message you received after accepting your client's invitation indicates that they have set you up as the Payroll Processor. If you are their external accountant, you must be given that role so you can access their company file seamlessly.
To fix this, please ask them to update your role from their QBDT account so that when they send you a new invitation, you'll no longer receive that message. To do so, here's how:
- Open your QBDT file.
- Go to Company, then Users, and select Set up Users and Roles.
- Below Users, click on your name, then choose Edit.
- Click the roles from the Assigned Roles box, then Remove.
- Navigate and pick the External Accountant from the Available Roles, then Add.
- Click OK.
Afterward, they will send you a new invitation containing the correct roles. Once you've accepted it, you can log into their company file with ease.
