Can I create a Statement of Cash Flows Report that hides the details from sub-accounts like I can with the collapse option in the P

Hi there, @jakol9

The collapse option is also available in the Statement of Cash Flows report. To hide the sub-details, click the arrow-down button.

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Under the Business overview section, select Statement of Cash Flows.
  3. Hide the sub-details by clicking the arrow down button.

You can play with the filter tools to customize it. Additionally, there are several reports you can view information about your business. Refer to this article for more details: Reports included in your subscription.

I'm always here should you need additional help in customizing your reports. Have a great day.

That isn't quite what I was looking for.   In the screenshot I am trying to figure out how to hide the sub accounts under Prepaid Expenses & Deposits, Deferred Revenue etc...

I appreciate the information that you gave, @jakol9.

Allow me to guide you on how to hide the sub-accounts of the parent accounts from the Statement of Cash Flows report.

You can export the Statement of Cash Flows report to Excel and remove the sub-accounts manually. Being able to hide the said accounts from the actual report isn't available.

To export the report:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Look for the Statement of Cash Flows.
  3. Click the export button on the report.
  4. Select Export to Excel.

From there, you can modify the report based on the information that you need.

This answer is not helpful.  Of course, you can download reports to Excel and manipulate them, but we need to know how to hide/collapse sub-accounts so that the Cash Flow Statement can be presented on a summary level just like the Balance Sheet & Income Statement.  This is a feature enhancement that is needed in QB.  I'm confused as to why the collapsing isn't made available already.  Downloading to excel and then creating subtotals of accounts you want to collapse is a LOT of manual work that would need to be done on a recurring basis.

Another enhancement is being able to provide side-by side cash flow statements for the month and YTD that does include the beginning and ending balance.

Hi there, melodyryan.

Welcome back to the QuickBooks Community. I understand that there are certain things that you need while using QuickBooks Online. Also, I recognize the importance of having the option to hide/collapse sub-accounts so the Cash Flow Statement can be presented on a summary level. I'll ensure you can send feedback so your suggestion is forwarded to the Product Development Team.

I suggest going to the Gear icon in QuickBooks Online and choosing Feedback. From there, you can submit a request about having the feature to hide/collapse sub-accounts. Then, being able to provide side-by-side cash flow statements for the month and YTD that do include the beginning and ending balance. Any recommendations are sent to our engineer for consideration in future updates.

Lastly, you may refer to this article to see steps on how you can customize a report to show a specific account, customer, and format the layout so the right data shows up in the right place: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.
