Can I have a report that shows sales by customer and product ?

Yes, you can, @ascal-levy.

We can customize the Sales by Customer Detail report to view the product and service that were sold to your customers. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu and select Sales by Customer Detail report.
  2. Click Customize and select the Rows/Columns drop-down, then choose Change columns.
  3. Check the box for Customer and Product/Service.
  4. Select Run report.

If you don't want to use the existing report groups in QuickBooks, you can add a new one and use it for saving memorized reports.

Can I have a report that shows sales by customer and product ?

I have run this report and it does not show payments made against an invoice.  Every amount column accessible shows the same amount, including Sales Price, Amount, and Balance.  Here are the columns I wish I could have on a report, but I can't find what I need and I can't customize any report to get what I need.

1. Invoice Date

2. Customer Name

3. Invoice #

4. Product/Service

5. Memo/Description

6. Quantity

7. Sales Price OR Amount

8. Payments Received

9. Balance Due

If this can't be done with a "delivered" report, even by customizing it, can I create a new report?

Thanks.

Hello there, Baughman.

Let me help you run a report within QuickBooks Online that generates the nine columns you've mentioned above.

We can run the Sales by Product/Service Detail report and customize it to get what you need. Here's how:

  1. Go to Reports on the left panel.
  2. In the search box, enter Sales by Product/Service Detail.
  3. Click the Customize button at the upper-right corner.
  4. In the Rows/Columns section, tick all the following columns you've listed above. You can include the A/R Paid to show payments made against an invoice.
  5. Once done, click the Run report button.

That will do. If there's information you want to include in the report, we can export it to Excel and made changes from there if the option to do it in QBO is unavailable. Also, feel free to read these articles for more details about handling reports in the Online product:

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have other concerns about QuickBooks reports. I'm always here to help. Stay safe and be well!

I can't find these detailed reports on my reports list. I think we just have QB Online. Not sure if that makes a difference?

You might be using the Simple Start version, @aereninger.

The Sales by Customer Detail and Sales by Product/Service Detail reports are only available in QuickBooks Online AdvanceEssentials, and Plus versions. That's why you're unable to see and customize it. Please check out the reports included in your QuickBooks Online subscription to see the lists available for your version.

As of now, I'd suggest running the Transaction List by Tag Group report. Then customize it to show the invoice date & number, customer name, memo/description, and many more.

I'm also adding this article to more about the process: Run reports in QuickBooks Online

You'll want to consider upgrading your subscription to get a detailed report. Here's how you can do it:

  1. Click the Gear icon and select Account and Settings.
  2. Proceed to the Billing & Subscription tab.
  3. In the QuickBooks Online section, tap Upgrade.
  4. Choose the next plan you want, and pick Upgrade.
  5. Confirm your payment information and hit Save.

Check out these articles to know more about the different features in each version.

Should you need anything else, let me know. I’m more than happy to help. Wishing you the best!

Can I have a report that shows sales by customer and product ?

Hi,

is there any way to filter out the zero lines from this report?

It generates a huge list of every product that has ever been sold to that customer, with most of them having zero quantities for the reported period.

Thanks,

Sandie

Hello, BRS Sandie.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. As mention above, you need to upgrade to different version so you can customize the report to specify the information needed. Also, you can export them to Excel to help give you the flexibility to modify the data. Simply click the Export icon and select Export to Excel.

Can I have a report that shows sales by customer and product ?

Thanks for that explanation, as a follow-up, I'm trying to get a report that shows the total quantity of a particular item per customer. For example, A customer buys the same product 5 times during the year, and each time the quantity varies. The report you outlined above shows all the product purchases, but it does not total the number of items. Is there a way to have it show the total number? See screenshot

Thanks for joining this thread, p-greatland.

I haven't seen any screenshots as you've mentioned. You may want to attach it so I can check the report.

The Sales by Product/Service Detail report will show the total number of items on the report. I've attached a screenshot for your reference:

If you want to save your current customization, you can refer to this article: Memorize reports in QuickBooks Online.

I've added a screen shot, let's hope it appears. However, per my previous post:

In the Product Service Detail Report, the items appear as a line item based on the order date. But, there is no total given, just the items. It there a way to make the report give an item quantity total as a sum?

Hi there, p-greatland.

You can add the QTY column to the Sales by Product/Service Detail report. The total QTY of the items sold is shown at the bottom of the report. here's how:

  1. Go back to your Sales by Product/Service Detail report.
  2. Click the Customize button.
  3. Scroll-down to the Rows/Columns section, then check the box for QTY.
  4. Click Run Report

Thank you for that response. I was aware of that option, but what I'm really wanting is a better product breakdown per customer. The Sales by Customer Summary Report is arranged in the way I want, but it only offers the $$ amount total per customer and item, not the actual quantity. Is there a way to have the customer on the left, and the respective item columns to the right, and the total in quantity (not $$ amount) on the bottom?

I do not see 'Sales by Customer Detail' reporting, only 'Sales by Customer Summary'....is it do to the version of QB I have - where some of the rubustness of reporting is truncated?

Thanks.

Yes, you're correct, @Grains. Reporting features vary depending on your QuickBooks Online (QBO) version. I'll share some insights about this and give you options on how to get the data you need.

The Sales by Customer Detail report is only available using Essentials, Plus, and Advanced versions of QBO. Please see this article to see which ones are included in your plan: Reports included in your QuickBooks Online subscription.

That said, you can either upgrade your QBO subscription or pull up other reports like Transaction List by Customer and export it to Excel to use this outside of QuickBooks.

Also, you may want to memorize your financial reports to save your customization settings for future use. If you wish to know more about this feature and how to do this in QBO, you can check out this article: Memorize reports in QuickBooks Online.

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have other reporting concerns in QBO. I'm always ready to help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @Grains.

Can I have a report that shows sales by customer and product ?

I am trying to pull/customize a report that will show me the sales receipts with all their detail plus the customer detail (email, full name, address etc). Is this possible?

Thank you for participating in this thread, YPirmohamed. Let me share some information regarding adding the sales receipt and customer's details (email, full name, and address) to your report in QuickBooks Online.

First off, we need to pull up the Sales by Customer Detail report. It displays your sales receipts and customers' names.

Here's how:

  1. Select Reports from the top menu bar.
  2. In the Find report by name section, type Sales by Customer Detail.
  3. Click Switch to classic view and then select Customize.
  4. Under the Rows/Columns, click the Change Columns.
  5. Check the box for the entries that you want to display.
  6. In the Filter dropdown, click Sales Receipt from the Transaction Type box.
  7. Hit Run Report.

Since you want to display the customer's billing and email address, we can pull up the Customer Contact List report.

Here's how:

  1. Select Reports from the top menu bar.
  2. In the Find report by name section, type Customer Contact List.
  3. Click Switch to classic view and then select Customize.
  4. Under the Rows/Columns, click the Change Columns.
  5. Check the box for the entries that you want to display.
  6. Hit Run Report.

As a workaround, you can export the Sales by Customer Detail and Customer Contact List into Excel and manually add the customer's details.

Furthermore, you can check this article on how to get the most out of your financial reports: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if you need further help with running customer information. I'm always here to assist. Have a wonderful day!
