Hello, @darongreen0.
You'll have the option to delete or remove the company from the Company List.
Here's how:
Please see the screenshot below.

I have the same question. My situation is similar to this question from @KD8, but I don't need to transfer data: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/account-management/delete-unused-company/00/153905
My old company has been archived and is scheduled for deletion in December 2020.
I am on Quickbooks online, and do not have a "File" menu.
I have run the purge command on it, but I actually want it GONE. How can we delete this OLD, unused company from my "Please select the company you want to open" page? It appears to be causing issues with my mobile app. I'd like to get the mobile app installed before December!
Thank you for joining the thread, @WritingBench.
Let me share some insights about what happens to the QuickBooks Online (QBO) account after canceling or purging the data.
When you cancel your QBO account, you have the read-only access to your data for one year after the cancellation date. This is the reason why your company file is still available under the Please select the company you want to open window.
The account will automatically be deleted or removed from after the scheduled deletion showing up on your screen (December 2020).

@Angelyn_T I appreciate your swift response. However, the information you provided is just a restatement of information available online. The reasons that have been given for why my old, cancelled company is still available are not relevant to me or my concerns. The online documentation makes it sound like a feature - "your data will still be available for 12 months" - but this is not my issue, nor is it a feature that benefits me. I have no data in that old company. I don't need to know why it's still there, I need to know why it cannot be removed.
I'm told that there's no way to delete the company, but that doesn't seem possible. The company serves me no purpose, and I suspect its existence is responsible for my mobile app's failure to launch.
Hi there, WritingBench.
For now, a company can only be deleted after a year since the date of the cancellation.
Although, there's an option to transfer the Master Admin of the company that you want to remove so it will no longer show up in the list. You can use a secondary or a dummy email as the new admin. Here's an article on how to do it: Change your QuickBooks Online master admin user.
You can also app's cache or saved data to make sure it's launching successfully. Here's how:
Once done, re-open the app and check if it would launch successfully without any issues.

@JenoP Thank you. That did indeed work to enable me to accomplish what I was trying to accomplish. The mobile application launches on my phone now, and, as you clearly stated, with the new username/login as Master Admin of the current company, I'm only offered that company when I log in.
(Note that if you've cancelled a company, you cannot edit the data - so I couldn't make a change to that Master Admin. I had to use a different email address and add a new user to my current company).
Brilliant solution. Thank you very much for your thoughtfulness.
Jeff
