Change of primary admin

We have had a number of changes in office managers over the years. Some we still have access to their emails and Intuit accounts others we don’t.
So to become primary admin I went as follows

Help

reset Intuit ID

then I was able to login with my Intuit information.

seemed like that did the trick until I discovered that it caused problems with my payroll and the help chat had me change my Intuit ID number back to what it was before.

so my question is how do I make sure all the other companies I took these steps on don’t have issues with the Intuit ID number.

can I revert it back so I don’t run into any issues.

I now know you need to submit a form if you don’t have access to the old admins account.

any help would be great

Change of primary admin

Good day, @LexiDCB. Allow me to share some insights about how the Intuit reset ID feature works.

The Intuit reset ID feature removes any and all Intuit account IDs saved on your QBDT. Right after the reset, you log in with your Intuit account ID you wish to use moving forward. This might affect all of the linked company files to your old Intuit ID. With regards to changing primary admin, take note that this will not trouble any of your saved company files.

You may manually check each of your company if you'll encounter issues. Then, since Community is a public forum and we don't want to endanger your security or privacy, I highly suggest reaching out to our QuickBooks Desktop support team again to further verify any issues you may run into. They can also share options for actions you need to take. Here's how:

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us.
  3. Select Contact Us.
  4. Give a brief description of your issue, then select Continue.
  5. Sign in to your Intuit account and select Continue and then Continue with my account.
  6. We'll email you a single use code. Enter your code and select Continue.
  7. Select to chat with us or Have us call you.

Also, I've added this helpful article the help you to manage your QuickBooks Desktop using your Intuit account ID: Create or open a company file using your Intuit account ID.

Please know that here in the Community, we always have your back. Post a comment if you have other questions about this process, and I'll get back to you.
