Getting Admin Privleges From A Previous Accountant

Hello Forum,

 

I am trying to get a program that sync's Square with QB and I have to have Administrator privileges in QuickBooks 2024 Desktop Pro Plus in order for the App to download.
 
When I go to File...App Management...Manage Web Apps, it tells me I do not have permission to access and I need to request access from the primary admin.
 
Also when I go to Company...Set Up Users and Passwords...Manage Login Settings, I get the same message.  I have attached a picture for you.
 
I can't sign into Intuit under my account...it has the previous accountant's email as the username and I do not know the password.  I have contacted her but she seems confused as to how to go about cancelling her Admin privileges of this QB file and transferring to me.  Can anyone help me get around this or give her instructions as to how to do this?

The error occurs because the current account credentials are still tied to the previous accountant. She can transfer the admin access to you either directly through QuickBooks Desktop or via a web browser.

 

Here's how the previous accountant can transfer the primary Intuit Account admin from QuickBooks Desktop:

 

  1. Go to Company, select Users, then Intuit Account User Management.
  2. Scroll to the secondary admin you want to make the primary admin, select Edit, then select Change Primary admin. If you, as the user, aren't listed, she'll need to add you to the account.
  3. Enter the verification code sent to the admin's phone number.
  4. The admin transfer email is sent to the current primary admin and the secondary admin.
  5. When the secondary admin accepts the transfer, they become the primary admin. The original primary admin becomes a secondary admin.

 

Alternatively, you can check out this article and share the steps to transfer the primary Intuit Account admin from a web browser to your accountant: Transfer the primary admin role in QuickBooks Desktop.

The previous Administrator has given me admin privileges but I have had to reach out to her again to let her know I need to be listed as Primary Admin.  I do see myself listed as a secondary admin, but I can't edit it and change my incorrect email address that she put in or change my admin to primary, so I am hoping she will be able to do that.  

 

I have emailed her your instructions.
