Has anyone gone from Quickbooks online to Quickbooks desktop? I am very unhappy with Quickbooks online.

As a service provider and sole proprietor, I find QuickBooks online is very challenging to navigate, it is not user friendly nor is it intuitive. I had QuickBooks Pro desktop from 2006-2015 (I closed my first business in 2015) and had my challenges over the years, but nothing like the challenges I'm struggling with in QuickBooks online - I can't even customize an invoice with the verbiage I want let alone the format I bought a years subscription to QuickBooks Plus online and am very disappointed. Anyone have a similar experience?

Consider switching back to QB Desktop. You can still purchase a one time license of QB Desktop 2021 and setup a simple private cloud solution if required.

Thank you for being open and honest about your navigating experience in QuickBooks. Allow me to share what verbiage you can change on your invoice and why QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) features are different from QuickBooks Online (QBO). This way, I can guide you accordingly. 

 

In QBO, you can customize your templates at any time. Let me show you how to achieve this if you're using the new version of invoice

 

  1. Go to the +New menu, then choose Invoice
  2. Click the Manage ⚙ to modify fields, change the color scheme, verbiage, and many more. 
  3. Select the drop-down ▼ for each section to see customization options. Pick what info displays on your form by turning the switches on or off. 
  4. Click Save

 

If you're still in the old invoice template, please follow the steps in this article to personalize your forms: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks.

 

In addition, QBDT and QBO have different functionality and navigation as they are opposite platforms. That's why there is some navigation that you're not yet familiar with. But not to worry, QuickBooks has video tutorials, webinars, and training classes. Thus, our customers will be familiar with the navigation and know the tips and tricks to manage your business.

 

Furthermore, you can also post feedback on this matter. Your valuable suggestion is aimed at our product development team to enhance your QuickBooks experience.

 

Here's how: 

  1. Into your QBO account, go to the Gear icon on the upper right side. 
  2. Click Feedback under Profile.
  3. Type your suggestion in the box and tap Next

Thank you, Fiat Lux - ASIA, that is what I did.

Yesterday, through QuickBooks Chat I ordered 2022 Desktop and immediately felt more comfortable and confident in QuickBooks Desktop than I ever did in QuickBooks Plus Online.  I then reached out to QuickBooks Customer Support this morning and cancelled my subscription and since I was within 30 days of purchase, I expect to get a full refund for the year's subscription I had purchased.

Has anyone gone from Quickbooks online to Quickbooks desktop? I am very unhappy with Quickbooks online.

Looking for a new solution myself... I ran QB for 20 years but QB online is such a nightmare. Everytime I use it there is something that won't work becasue of this or that, that of course is if I can first get the right google result to point me in the right direciton to do what I need to do. The help tools have never been helpful. QB online is a tool for accountants and bookkeepers.
