We had the same problem, and were able to resolve. The problem was upon the creation of the budget for the class. There is one menu item you have to select properly upon the new budget setup - it in the drop-down menu to the far right at the top of the page, and is labeled "Subdivide by".
If this is not selected upon the creation of the budget, we have no way to filter by class. (so we deleted the first budget and re-entered using this option!)
